With processed and fast foods finding a special spot during the holiday season, the risk of consuming
calorie-laden food is high. More countries are experiencing the double burden of malnutrition,
where undernutrition co-exists with obesity and other diet-related, non-communicable diseases.
Building bone mass mostly happens during childhood and adolescence. Low calcium intake has been
linked to low bone mineral density, which increases the risk of osteoporosis and broken bones in
the future. Vitamin D also plays a critical role in regulating the balance between calcium metabolism
and bone formation in the human body. The pandemic reminded us, if nothing else, of the power
and potential of good childhood nutrition to build human capital potential, improve immunity and
prevent infection and illness. A life cycle approach to nutrition needs to be implemented that can
play a role in improving nutritional levels in every household – focusing on children.
Making physical activity a part of the daily routine is not only fun but also healthy. It is only when
children engage in enough physical activity that they will be able to assimilate essential nutrients
that they consume. To help children grow and develop optimally they need adequate nutrition,
they need to be healthy, and they must feel safe and secure. Let us all contribute to a child’s healthy
growth and to a happy childhood experience that will allow them to develop to their full potential.

“Until we take the
risk, what’s the
point, right?”
By Nichola Marie
Harking back to when you started out in 1998, it has been a series of
successive achievements for you, from showing your bridal collection in
Pakistan for Bridal Asia in 2003, to launching your international label Ana
Mika in 2004, followed by the grand finale at Lakme Fashion Week. What
were the factors, in your opinion, that helped you gain a firm standing and
fame in a relatively short span of time?
Success is a very relative term. And I do feel that we still have a very long way to
go. Yes, along the way you achieve milestones. But I don’t even know if I should
call it success. It’s just part of what we do. I also do feel that the one reason why
we have kept going from strength to strength, if I may say so, is the very fact that
for me, I live, breathe, eat, sleep and wake up fashion. I’ve worked on it incessantly
for the last 20-plus years nonstop without actually having taken a break. The
consistency really helps. Of course, you’ve got to have it in your genes, your
surroundings and all of that. Besides that, it requires constant study. It requires
constant experimentation and the ability to take risks, which I’ve been doing for a
while now. The most important thing for me that makes me stay here is the love
for it. Like I said, I’m born for this and I think I will also end with it.

A Royal Creative
In the kaleidoscope of Kate Middleton’s interests and
accomplishments, the lens of photography holds a
unique focus. Beyond the regal engagements and societal
obligations, the Princess unveils a passion for visual
storytelling. Her camera, a silent companion amidst the
clamour of royal life, captures moments both poignant
and personal. Kate’s prowess behind the lens has garnered
acclaim, leading to her selection as the official photographer
for several significant family events. This creative inclination
intertwines with her academic journey, having graduated
with a degree in Art History from St. Andrews University, UK.

Kohli’s Fairytale
Quite the fairytale for the GOAT of cricket, none other than Virat
Kohli who equalled his idol Sachin Tendulkar’s world record for
the most centuries hit in a World Cup (49 centuries) on his 35th
birthday in Mumbai. It truly is the making of a fairytale for Kohli

Highlights
• Defending champs England lost their first match.
• Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s world record for

• Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathew got timed out.
• West Indies didn’t qualify for the World Cup.

“The best part of

Sonam Kapoor has been a long-standing
client, how have you managed her
changing fitness goals over the years?
Working with Sonam has been the most
challenging and fulfilling. We’ve done nine
films over six years where she has played
a schoolgirl, a physiotherapist, a princess,
and even had a bikini scene! With each
role, the workout would change, the meal
plan was adjusted, and Sonam would
push herself to work out even after a long
day of shooting.
However, the best part of working with
Sonam has been through her pregnancy
and after. We focused on her core
strength and added strength training, so
she bounced back after the pregnancy.
She worked out till a week before she
delivered and got back pretty soon too.
She understands the importance of staying
fit and strong not only while the cameras
are on, but also when the cameras are off.
Especially now that she’s got the biggest
role of her life to play… that of mommy!

Jangda’s book is an interesting read for
those looking to reclaim their health.
‘Heal Your Gut, Mind & Emotions: 5 Steps to Reset Your Health
with Ayurveda and Food Chemistry’ by author and health
coach Dimple Jangda, is a simple, concise handbook to help
your journey towards better gut health, and, consequently,
