Further to your recent e-mail, I think the problem is that most of the movies that we
currently offer are either action or science-fiction movies. These tend to be more popular
with males rather than with females. To solve this problem, I think we should consider
expanding our range of dramas, romantic comedies, and similar types of movies that
traditionally appeal to a female audience. A final point that I want to mention to you is
about advertising. It seems to me that if you agree to add more "female-friendly" movies,
then we should advertise our new catalog in magazines that have female readerships,
such as fashion magazines, or even on parenting Websites.

What do you consider to be important qualities of a good supervisor? Give specific reasons
and examples to support your opinion.

To be a good supervisor, a person needs many qualities. In my opinion, a good supervisor

needs a sense of fairness and the ability to gain respect from his or her subordinates.
Moreover, a motivational supervisor is a good manager, too.

Firstly, it is important for a supervisor to have a sense of fairness. He needs to treat all
employees equally and without favor, so that everyone feels fair and respected. Moreover, it
allows him to avoid causing conflicts among team members. I once worked at a company
where the supervisor gave her friends all of the nice jobs and gave jobs that were not so
interesting to people that she didn't like. It is this kind of bias that discourages workers, so
her team members complained to their boss after they got into a huge fight due to this.
Therefore, I feel that a supervisor should always treat everyone fairly.

Secondly, a supervisor should be able to gain the respect of his or her subordinates. When
subordinates trust their supervisor, they can work to his or her full potential as they know he
or she will be a constant source of support should any problem arise. As I just mentioned,
my previous supervisor did not gain my respect for the reasons I have just outlined, so
nobody trusts or respects her, resulting in her poor team performance all the time. In
contrast, at my present company, my supervisor is very supportive and hardworking. He is
very honest, supports me, and leads our team well.

Finally, a supervisor needs to motivate and inspire his or her subordinates. Most people get
bored in their jobs after a few years or set in their ways. Therefore, if the supervisor can act
as a source of inspiration, he can keep the whole team dedicated to the job. For me, a
supervisor who can continually push me to improve, to learn, and not to rest on my previous
achievements is a good one. My present supervisor constantly encourages me to achieve
more, to be better, and to exceed my own expectations.

In conclusion, I think that a good supervisor is someone who can demonstrate fairness when
dealing with his or her subordinates. In addition, a supervisor should gain the respect of his
or her subordinates and seek to motivate them fully.
