A Perfectly Charming
Jointed Bear
‘4 to Crochet
by Carolyn Chrisumas SavageGeneral Instructions
The beige Madison shown is made witht
asize G hook and worsted-weight yarn,
and stuffed with polyester fiberhll.
‘Worsted-weight pause is roughly + sc
and 4 rows per inch. Exact
important; hewever, work should be
close enough that when stuffed, stulfing
does noc show through stiches,
‘Madison. can be made with any yarn
and appropriate hook size. Hock sizes
recommended om yarn labels ate
intended for garment construcuon with
a great deal more looseness and drape
than is needed for stuffed animals, so in
all cases except with thread, use at least
L-2 book sizes smaller than yarn label
meommendation,
Most body pans are made by working in
rounds without joining. Te make this
easier, use a scrap of yarn between the
lastat of one row and first stitel of the
next. Flip the end of scrap yarn to the
front on one row, then to the back on
the ned row and so on, weaving
through work as you stitch: Whee
counting tows, count just to the right of
the scrap yarn.
For head pieces, ears and necks openinig
‘of body leave yarn tails for sewing parts
cogether when fastening af.
Safety notice
Buttons and small parts can be a hazard
1 small children. Ta be safe, all anienals:
imended for use es toys should have
embroidered eyes and yam-only joins
‘Sew all parts together securely: Refer 19
instructions far creating embroidered
eyes and yarneonly joints for bears for
children under the age of three.
