The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday, March 1, a “notable” 11 percent reduction in
dengue cases nationwide from Jan. 14 to 27.

Based on the DOH data, there were 7,434 cases during this period, compared to 8,368 cases
from Jan. 1 to 13.

It added that as of Feb. 23, there has been a continued decrease in dengue cases from Jan. 28
to Feb. 10, with only 5,267 cases recorded.

However, the DOH pointed out that these figures may still change due to potential delayed
consultations and reporting.

Despite the overall decline, the Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions have shown an
increase in dengue cases from Jan. 14 to 27, compared to the previous two weeks from Jan. 1
to 13, reporting 1,384 and 715 new cases.

Additionally, from Jan. 1 to Feb. 10, a total of 67 deaths were reported, resulting in a case
fatality rate (CFR) of 0.32 percent for the year 2024.

The DOH continued to emphasize the importance of vigilance and adherence to preventive
measures.

It encouraged the public to strengthen the implementation of the 5S strategy against dengue:
search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; and self-protection measures; seek early
consultation; say yes to fogging where needed; and start and sustain hydration.
