exciting guide.

Your decision was a smart move, and I have a thing for


smart people.

But that's by the way.

Let's get to what you are to expect in this guide.

In this guide, I will explain what copywriting is in the


easiest way you could imagine.

But also, I will show you a Secret to writing killer


words that vomit money!

Lastly,I will show you, in clear iterms, how you can also
start raking in a devilish amount of money from writing
monthly!

You know those amazing guys that teach us the whole


syllabus in school, everything in one night before the
exam?

Those MVPs that used to save us a day before exams…

Yeah.

Let’s dive right into it.

Copywriting!

It’s a simple, yet very wide and very complex word!

I won’t lie, the first time I came across that word… I
mistook it for Copyrighting because they sounded alike

(I think that’s what they called Homophones shay).

Anyways, a simple search on Google went a long way but


still didn’t explain to me in detail.

So What’s Copywriting?

According to Google, Copywriting is the act or


occupation of writing text for the purpose of
advertising or other forms of marketing.

More like writing (texts) to sell (advertise)

And that’s the simple definition.

I love to define my own this way though. And according


to my own definition…

...Copywriting is an art, used to drive people’s


emotions and desire!

Don’t mind my English… All I’m saying is Copywriting is
used to make people make a decision.

Either to buy (most common), subscribe, like or


whatever decision you want them to take.

A quick example you can relate to is this:

But these words, specifically written together… Brought


about 256 persons into the class.

That is the basic example of what Copywriting is.

Back to this definition.

Keyword there is Art.

Copywriting is an art and most Copywriters don’t even


know this.
Yes, it has formulas and processes and can easily be
called Science

But in my little journey into Copywriting, I have


discovered that Copywriting is actually a beautiful piece
of Art.

Most Copywriters do not know this. They believe in


preset formulas and strategies so much that they can’t
freestyle…

Hence, they find it difficult to be creative on their own

Your case shouldn’t be like that because you have this


guide to show you what those copywriters don’t know!

Also this beautiful art is everywhere around us!

Billboards.
Campaign posters
Church signposts
Social Media logos
The president trying to sell himself to the voters
A friend trying to impress you
A guy trying to toast a girl

Almost everything around you falls back to Copywriting!

So the first lesson I want you to learn is that


Copywriting is a wonderful piece of art!

Why?

In science, everything is defined. Everything follows a


formula.

As such, most Copywriters that think Copywriting is


Science falls into the trap of following a method, they
think if a copy doesn’t contain all the formulas and
ingredients, it’s not Copywriting yet.

But in Art, it’s all about freestyle. It’s all about
masterpieces. It’s all about finding connections.

It’s all about getting people to do what you want them to


do.

And you can do it in whatever way as long as you know


the basic rules.

Let me show you an example:

This is an ad for a shoe, and one of my favorites so far.

Now, you would think this is just a poem, or even nothing


related to copywriting…

But this is a beautiful piece of art that broke sales for
Atoms

This ad defies a lot of copywriting rules, but followed


the basic ones and hence it worked like hell.

I think you get the point now.

Let me move on.

Now, I think I should tell you the story of how I


discovered this amazing skill.

How did I get into Copywriting?

It all just kinda happened, my dad was an irresponsible


scientist….

Scratch that.

I will always say I stumbled (because that’s what I did)


into Copywriting one boring evening.

I was thinking about my life and it got too boring so I
decided to check online what I could do that would bring
me money.

I was jambite waiting for admission, broke into a stupor


and didn’t even have any digital skill except knowing how
to toast a lady online.

Everything was just boring and so I decided to look up


what I could do to make money online

(At least, making money is all the fun one needs)

So I read up on a few digital skills and decided to check


them out.

Copywriting struck out for me.

It was intriguing.

Anyways, as soon as I found this skill, I began to don't


more research and learn more about it.

Subsequently, I was exposed to great guys of
copywriting and I kept learning and implementing what I
taught…

Which brings me to my next point

Lastly,

Let me go back to the part where I said Copywriting is


an Art so you can understand better.

Here are few illustrations:

1. While on Instagram, you see an ad for a Nike Air


force 1 shoe….You didn’t even know the shoe before, but
the name got stuck in your head.

Colorful. Beautiful. Expensive.

So you watch and pass, hoping that one day you’ll have
enough to buy it.

Four days later, a vendor posted the same shoe with the
following caption…

"You can now get this beautiful kick at 45% discount if


you order within the next hour!"

You quickly and eagerly contacted her, collected her
digits and paid for it.

What did you think influenced your buying decision?

A simple word, with the help of copywriting....An art!

2. Your grandfather (who honest to God doesn't know


anything about sim cards) watches that Airtel rain
advert.

He sees that the babalawo (native doctor) tried to stop


the rain severally, but couldn’t do it.

He saw Jide Kosoko as the king, giving orders…

At the end, He laughs and asks you what product they


are advertising… You tell him “oh it’s airtel jare”

Trust me, the next time he needs a sim… The only name
that will be in his mouth is Airtel!

3. You listen to a song for the first time.

You had no idea who the artist was or when they even
sang the song.

But the song kept ringing in your head.

Because it struck an emotion, or you could easily relate


or it fits into a story.

Thirty minutes later, you’re searching google for one


part of the lyrics you can remember and Eureka! You
find the song and it’s now sitting in your playlist on
repeat.

What Is NOT Copywriting?

Copywriting is not Copyrighting!

Even though they sound the same, they are pretty


different

Copyrighting is getting rights that automatically vest to


someone who creates an original work of authorship like
a literary work, song, movie or software.

It means granting someone the ownership of his/her
work.

Copywriting is not content Writing!

Although most people confuse these two together, and


they actually look the same…but there’s a clear
difference between them.

Content Writing is writing to either educate or


entertain your readers. It doesn’t allow your readers to
make buying decisions…

But Copywriting is solely to sell.

If you write a copy to entertain…you will confidently


lose money and go broke.

Lemme show you a quick example:

Imagine I want to talk about a diabetes drug..

In content writing, I will talk about what the product is,
features of the product, advantages, disadvantages, and
the likes.

This will be to educate your readers solely.

But In Copywriting, I’ll ONLY talk about the product and


its benefits.

I want people to buy the drug, so I won’t go about telling


you that only four out of 16 people used this drug in the
last four months.

You get the point now right?

Alright, let’s move on.

Opportunities In Copywriting!

1. You can be a freelance copywriter.

Personally for me, this is the best type because you get
paid and also work on your own terms and conditions.

This is when you work for clients (both local and foreign)
and they pay you handsomely for your service.

2. You can be an agency copywriter.

Copywriting agencies like Agora spend a fortune putting


together a community of Copywriters.

They are well paid and work with huge results.

3. You can use Copywriting as a side skill.

Especially if you have other businesses to run, you can


simply use the knowledge of Copywriting to sell your
products.

If you sell products, the knowledge of Copywriting is


enough to put you above a lot of your competitors.

There are other opportunities in Copywriting, but one


thing is sure,

Let me further explain the opportunities so you can get
it.

1. You can use Copywriting to sell (either for


yourself or someone else).

Copywriting is used to sell. So you can easily get up one


day, decide that you need money, look out for a product
you own or someone else owns…. And write a copy about
it.

It’s something I’ve done several times… And it’s


something I’ll continue to do… As long as the blood of
Copywriting flows through my veins.

2. You can use Copywriting to work for businesses.

Either small, medium or large scale businesses, there’s


something they all have in common…

The need for a good Copywriter!

Even a local shoe seller needs the idea of Copywriting, or


more, a good Copywriter to market her wares
effectively.

Knowing this, I’ve helped small businesses create short
copy ads for as low as #2000 and as high as #5000
depending on how deep of a pocket my client is.

(And for something that takes me less than 20 mins to


come up with, I think it’s a good deal).

Medium scale businesses and large scale businesses are


also in dire need of Copywriters.

Anyways.

just like you’d always want.

Oh and of course, you do not need to break the bank to


get this… It’s simply elegant and affordable at the same
time.

But orders are coming in quickly, so slide up to pick up


yours before I run out of stock!

Imagine you get these two messages from different


sellers…. Who is your selfish self going to buy from?

Oh and by the way, notice the words in bold… And the


fact that I called you Selfish, I’ll explain both pretty
much very soon!

But before then, remember I promised to show you the

Simple.

Whenever you decide to write a copy, either short, long


or whatever…

In Fact whenever you decide to write anything at all
that involves getting people’s attention…

Here’s a vital secret you should cling to:

Humans are naturally selfish and so whatever you


write should be interesting to them (and be about
them), not to you!

Whatever you are going to write, whether it’s a short ad


for your product, or your class, or even if it’s just you
talking to a client…

Always remember that it should be about them!

Take a look at the last example once again.

Seller A did the very thing most people do…and that’s


talk about themselves and their products, and nothing
about their customers.

Because what business does my selfish self have with


the fact that you haven’t eaten since last night?

You didn’t say anything that would interest me or be in
my benefit, so I can easily walk past your ad.

But look at Seller B.

Clear message, and yet it’s still about me…why else won’t
I pay for my beautiful shoe that’s not even expensive

And so therefore, here’s the last lesson to hold on to


from this guide:

The use of the personal pronoun You is very important in


your sales messages.

So whenever you write anything, be sure to make sure


it’s talking more about who you want to sell to, and less
about you that’s selling.

After all, it’s their money you want to collect na!
