Dear Grade 6 Parents,

We are halfway through Term 1, which means it’s almost time for our end of term
assessments. The students have been working hard during their lessons and
completing checks for understanding to prepare for the assessments.

We want to make each child’s test experience positive and successful, and need
some assistance from you. We ask that you take some time to do the following with
your child so that they can do their best:
❖ Help your child make a study schedule, and find a quiet space to study.
Include breaks in the study schedule (e.g study for 30 minutes and take a 15
min break)
❖ Make sure your child gets a good nights rest before each assessment.
❖ Have your child eat a healthy breakfast before each assessment.
❖ Make sure your child arrives at school with enough time to settle before each
assessment
❖ Gently encourage your child to do their best and show that you believe in
them!

Below are some study tips for your child, and we will also go through them at school:
❖ Make flash cards and use key words
❖ Write study notes or summaries (underline or highlight important
information)
❖ Teach someone at home what you are studying.
❖ Study with a friend and quiz each each other
❖ Set your own tests
❖ Have a positive mindset and read quotes that you find encouraging
