Roadmap for achieving Sustainable Development Goals

“Vasudev Kutumbakam” India and the G20

ABOUT SEMINAR

India aims to use its presidency of the G20 to foster hope, harmony, peace and stability. With an economy
which ranks as the world's fifth largest, India is determined to make the most of this opportunity to shape
the global agenda with a collective approach in light of the increasing polarisation and escalating
geopolitical tensions. India has committed to advancing peace, stability, and shared prosperity in a
fractured world and it has played a pivotal role in the formulation of the United Nations Agenda 2030 and
much of the country’s National Development Agenda is mirrored in the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs).

The G20 is the leading platform for international collaboration on the most significant elements of global
economic and fiscal issues. It brings together the world’s major advanced and emerging economies .The
G20 cannot be a panacea for the world’s problems. But over the past 10 years, the G20 has been an
important forum for international cooperation. During India's G20 presidency, they will emphasize the
importance of accelerating progress and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

India will collaborate with established and developing economies to bolster financing for the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) through several avenues, such as raising domestic taxes, elevating borrowing
from international development finance institutions (DFIs), and extending relief to heavily indebted
countries. India will also focus on pushing public investments and structural reforms, promoting private
investments, and strengthening multilateral trade and resilience of global supply chains, to support
long-term growth, and make it sustainable and inclusive and green. With the above objective the seminar
aims to understand India’s agenda to achieve sustainable development in the economic, social,
environmental and other crosscutting issues.
