Activity 6: CUT AND PASTE “Police Discretion”

As discussed above, police must be guided with sound judgment in deciding what to do. However, in the Philippines,
there are instances when police discretion is being abused. Look for a newspaper/clipping that shows abuse in police
authority. Cut and paste it below. Then answer the question.

If you are the police officer faced with the same scenario, how would you have reacted with this situation?
If I were a police officer, I will not accept any bribe when I am assigned to the checkpoint in
order to avoid being fired, imprisoned, or having my reputation soiled with guilt. All I can do is penalize
them for not following directions appropriately. if i were to face the same situation as i am also a policeman
my reaction would be shocking and sad because you are a police officer not to cheat or ask for a bribe
when you are assigned to the checkpoint the habit of a policeman is to help everyone of safety or whatever
it is not the habit of a police officer to ask for any bribe all I can say is that it is a waste of your hard work for
a few years so before you do the solicitation of bribes from those you catch think of all the hard work you
and for bribery can be imprisoned for several months and years can even be removed from your service
you can give them appropriate punishment for their violations.
