PRESENT CONTINUOUS
The present continuous, also known as the present progressive, is a verb tense that
describes an action that started in the past and is still ongoing in the present.
The present continuous requires the present form of the verb 'to be' and the '-ing' form of
the main verb or present participle.
Any sentence that uses "is" or "are" and a verb with the suffix "-ing" is a present
continuous.
Clearly explaining actions that are happening at the same moment they are described. For
example:
• He is learning English.
Providing context when expressing current situations. These sentences are often
accompanied by adverbs like recently, currently, or lately, among others. For example:
• She has been crying a lot lately.
Expressing future events or actions with certainty. For example:
• We are going to the movies next Friday.
Describing momentary actions or events. For example:
• He is talking now, but he was unconscious yesterday.
Indicating recurring situations. In these sentences, it is necessary to add adverbs like
forever, always, constantly, among others, to reinforce their context. For example:
• He is always running at 6 am.
