INTRODUCTION

Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Film & Television Institute of India, Pune (FTII)
and Satyajit Ray Film &Television Institute, Kolkata (SRFTI), leading educational
Institutions in the art & craft of film making and television production, need to go through a
multi-stage selection process which includes Written Test, Audition (for screen Acting),
Orientation andInterview which is called the Joint Entrance Test 2023 – 24 (JET 2023 – 24).

FTII under its Television Wing, already announced admission for its PG Certificate Courses
in Television (specialization – Electronic Cinematography, Direction, Video Editing and
Sound Recording & TV Engineering) which is termed as 2023 Batch for the said courses.
Thus, FTII’s PG Certificate Courses in Television under this JET 2023 – 24 will be termed
as 2024 Batch including UG Certificate Course in Animation & VFX Design. Other Courses
of FTII’s Film Wing will be termed as 2023 batch.

Above stated admission process for 2023 batch of FTII’s PG Certificate Courses in Television
and JET 2023 – 24 are completely independent processes, although they may run parallelly.
Applicants who already applied for 2023 batch of FTII’s PG Certificate Courses in Television
and further wish to apply for JET 2023 – 24 may do so by submitting independent application
for JET 2023 – 24. All applicants may please note that there is no co-relation between two
admission processes and they are totally separate & independent.

The Written Test under JET 2023 – 24 is of three hours’ duration consisting of objective
and subjective questionsand will be conducted in 28 cities across India. Based on the score
of the candidates in Written Test, candidates will be shortlisted for the further stages of the
selection process including Audition (for Screen Acting), Orientation and Interview.
Thereafter, on successful accomplishment of all the requisites, candidates will be enrolled
in their full time regular programmes.

JET 2023 – 24 is a pre-requisite for admission to all the courses mentioned below of FTII & SRFTI.

This year, SRFTI, Kolkata is the organizing Institute of JET 2023 – 24 which is scheduled
to beconducted in 28 cities across India as per the dates given below.

JET 2023 – 24 MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

The minimum educational qualification to be eligible to apply for all courses except 3 Year
PG Diploma in Art Direction & Production Design and 3 Year UG Certificate course in
Animation & Visual Effects Design is Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, in any discipline.

For 3 Year PG Diploma in Art Direction & Production Design and 3 Year UG Certificate
course in Animation & Visual Effects Design the eligibility is as under:

Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree and awaiting results can also
apply for all PG Diploma and PG Certificate courses.

Similarly, candidates appearing H.S.C (12 standard) or final year of Government recognized
diploma (Minimum of 2-year) after S.S.C and awaiting results, can also apply for UG
Certificate course.

However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, are allowed to join the course,

only if they submit a mark sheet, passing certificate, on or before 31 August 2024, from
the Controller of Examinations/ Principal/ Registrar or any other equivalent competent
authority of the University /Institution / College, stating that the candidate has appeared for
his/ her graduation examination / H. S. C. Board examination / final year of minimum 2-year
Government recognized diploma after S.S.C and he/ she is a graduate/ Passed.

RESERVATIONS

In each course, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for
Scheduled Tribe (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-
Creamy” layer (OBC-NCL), and 10% for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as Gen-EWS.
Further, 5% of total seats are reserved on horizontal basis for Persons with benchmark
Disabilities.
As defined in ‘The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016)’, “person
with benchmark disability” means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a
specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and
includes a person with disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable
terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “Specified Disability” means the disabilities as
specified in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016. The candidates belonging to the PwD
categories are further required to refer to the prospectuses of participating institutes and
note the eligibility requirements carefully before applying.

NOTE
a. No change in the category will be entertained after JET 2023 – 24 registration. Hence,
the candidates are required to give due care while registering. SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Gen-
EWS and PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC / ST/ OBC – NCL/ Gen.-EWS/
PwD certificates in the prescribed form at the time of registration / applying.

b. Candidates claiming OBC-NCL status may please note that the OBC certificate, including
Non – Creamy Layer status should have been issued on a date within one year before the
closing date of receiving application i.e. midnight of 17.03.2024 onward.

c. Candidates claiming PwD status should submit latest certificate in the prescribed form
which should have been issued on a date within six months before the closing date of
receiving application i.e. midnight 17.03.2024. Otherwise the PwD candidate must have
permanent validity certificate.

d. General candidates claiming EWS category/ status should submit latest certificate in
prescribed form which should have been issued on a date within one year before the closing
date of receiving application i.e. midnight, 17.03.2024.

e. Certificates not fulfilling these conditions (issued before the mentioned date) shall
be held invalid and the candidature of such applicant(s) shall automatically get
cancelled at the stage of document verification or may be considered as General, as
the case may be, from the initial stage, that is written Test.

Instances of any incorrect information or violation of process detected at any stage of the
selection will lead to immediate disqualification of the candidate from the selection process
and he/ she will not be allowed to appear for JET in future. If such instances go undetected
during the current selection process but are detected in subsequent years, such
disqualification will take place with immediate effect.

Please note that for the courses which are offered by both Institutes, a candidate needs to
pay registration fee only once, and he/she will be considered for admission to both institutes.

A candidate can apply maximum one course from Group A, one course from Group B,
and one course from Group C. Fee paid is non – refundable, non – transferable and non –
adjustable etc. under any circumstances. Bank charges for online transaction will have to
be borne by the applicant.

REGISTRATION FOR JET 2023 – 24

The registration window opens at 4:00 pm on 18.02.2024 and will close at 11:30p.m.on
17.03.2024. The details will be available in the registration guide on the JET website.

At the time of registration, the candidates must select test two cities as per their preference
from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, candidates will be allotted one
among the two preferred cities. In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the
preferred cities, he/ she will be allotted a nearby city. The candidates can download the
admit cards from 27.03.2024 to 05.04.2024.

NOTE: Admit cards will not be sent by post or by email


TEST CENTRES

JET 2023 – 24 scheduled to be conducted in centres spread across 28 cities. Admit card
with the name and address of the test centres will be available on the JET website from
27.03.2024.

The institutes reserve the right to change or cancel any test centre/ city and / or change the
test time and date at its own discretion.

Possible 28 Test Centres from following cities depending on sufficient nos. of application:
Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai,
Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi,
Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Port-Blair, Itanagar, Gangtok,
Leh (Ladakh) and Jammu.

QUESTION PAPER DETAILS


The Written Test will be of 3 hours for 100 marks, as per details below.

Paper I:
Part A: Multiple Choice Questions (Single Answer type): 20 marks [on OMR sheet]
Part B: Multiple Select Questions (MSQs): 20 marks [on OMR sheet]

Paper II:
Descriptive Answer Questions: 60 marks.

EVALUATION PROCESS

Paper-I and Paper-II of all the eligible appeared candidates will be evaluated.

JET 2023 – 24 SCORE

Candidates' JET 2023 – 24 score card will be made accessible on the JET website. JET
2023 score is valid only till December 31, 2024 and will accordingly be accessible on the
website. Thereafter, no queries (online/offline) related to issuance of JET 2023 – 24 score
cards will be entertained.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Performance in JET 2023 – 24 Written Test is an important component for consideration in


the selection process. On the basis of performance in Written Test, the list of candidates
short- listed for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of both the
Institutes. Please visit the websites of the institutes and read the prospectuses carefully for
more information.
Step1: Written Test [(Paper-I & Paper-II) on 06.04.2024 & 07.04.2024

Step 2: Result of Written Test will be published on the website of JET 2023 – 24

Step 3: On the basis of the performance in Paper-I + Paper- II, Candidates will be
shortlisted for Audition (only for Screen Acting), Orientation and Interview for
all other courses except Screen Acting.

Step 4: (For all other courses except Screen Acting) On the basis of the performance
in Written Test (Paper-I & Paper-II) [20%] + Orientation [50%] + Interview
[30%], final joint merit list of FTII & SRFTI will be published.
(For Screen Acting) On the basis of the performance in Written Test (Paper-I
& Paper-II) + Audition, Result-1 will be prepared. Further, on the basis of
orientation and Interview, Result -2 will be prepared. Final selection will be on
the basis of Result-1 and Result-2, each containing 50% weight age.
The candidate has to appear in all the stages of admission process i.e.
Written Test, (Audition for Acting), Orientation & Interview. Otherwise he/
she will not be considered for Final Merit List.

Step 5: After publishing joint merit lists, preferences will be obtained from the
shortlisted candidates. Based on the preference(s) and merit, candidates will
be selected to a particular course in FTII or SRFTI. (For more details, please
refer the guideline of Joint Seat Allocation available in JET website).

MEDICALTEST

Candidates who are selected for the courses will be required to undergo Medical Test as per
the selection criteria of both Institutes. Procedure of the Medical Test shall be communicated
to the selected candidates by the respective institutes.

Candidature of a selected candidate can be cancelled on the basis of the outcome of


Medical Test. Decision of respective Institutes in this regard would be final & binding on all
concerned.

IMPORTANT

1. Both FTII and SRFTI are free to verify eligibility of candidates at any stage of the
selection process and after admission.

2. Candidates are required to read the prospectus of both the institutes for eligibility,
course details and also for the detailed admission process.

3. Candidates should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not
ensure consideration for short listing by either of the Institutes.
4. All important information on JET 2023 – 24 including any subsequent Corrigendum /
Changes /Updates shall be made available on the FTII & SRFTI websites only.

5. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a
mobile phone number throughout the selection process and should simultaneously
track the JET website and website of participating institutes for updates. The
participating institutes will not be responsible for any non-receipt of intimation to a
candidate.

6. The JET 2023 – 24 scores are not allowed to be used by any other institute except
the participating institutes i.e., FTII & SRFTI

7. Any dispute concerning JET 2023 – 24 would be subject to jurisdiction of the


competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of Kolkata city only.

Joint Seat Allocation (JSA) 2023 – 24:

Joint Orientation and Joint Interview of respective Film Courses (Direction & Screenplay Writing,
Cinematography, Editing and Sound Recording & Sound Design) of FTII, Pune and SRFTI, Kolkata, will be
jointly held in online mode and course wise joint merit list will be published.

Similarly, Joint Orientation and Joint Interview of respective TV Courses of FTII Pune (Direction, Electronic
Cinematography, Video Editing and Sound Recording & TV Engg.) and respective EDM courses of SRFTI,
Kolkata will be jointly held in online mode and course wise joint merit list will be published.

Also, Orientation and Interview of stand-alone courses will be held in online mode. For Screen Acting course
(FTII) Audition will be held offline (in-person). Merit lists of standalone courses will also be published with
joint merit lists.

After publishing all merit lists, online preferences will be obtained from the short listed candidates through a
software system. This process is called as Joint Seat Allocation (JSA) 2023 – 24. Separate Business Rules
for JSA 2023 – 24 are published on the JET 2023 – 24 portal and also on the websites of FTII and SRFTI.
Based on the preference(s) and merit, candidates will be selected to a particular course in FTII or SRFTI
through system software.
