Headlines with Sarah

A warm welcome to everyone for the new academic year. We have had a busy start to the year, but a good one - children have se;led very quickly into their new classes. We are delighted at how well our Year 7 children and children new to the Vale have se;led into their new school. This term we have also welcomed two new teachers to the school; Merja Dye is our new FoundaGon Stage teacher, and Alejandra Pascual-Jackson has returned as a Key Stage 3 teacher. It was lovely to meet some more parents at the open mornings as part of our Parental Involvement Week, I do hope those of you who came enjoyed the session, working with your child and seeing some of the learning acGviGes they do at school. We will have another week next term with a dierent focus, so watch out for that one. We are keen to include any informaGon from parents to parents. This could be informaGon on good places to visit with your child during the holidays, Gps on where to nd good equipment, anything that you may have found useful and think may help someone else! Do please send this informaGon in, either in wriGng or by email: oce@vale.haringey.sch.uk marked parent Gps. With best wishes, Sarah McLay

WHATS HAPPENING IN THE FOUNDATION STAGE

Foundation Stage has had a wonderful start to the Autumn Term. We have been learning about colours and visited a beautiful yellow Sunflower in the playground. This sparked off an interest in gardening and weve been planting and tending to our flowers and growing cress and lettuce. We have been enjoying drama and cooking sessions and we always love messy play.

WHATS HAPPENING IN CLASS ONE?

We love being outside and touching snails!

WHATS HAPPENING IN CLASS 2 ?

In our literacy lessons children are working on one main book called Pass the jam, Jim. We focus on developing communication skills and participating in a variety of sensory activities. In maths we have been concentrating on identifying numbers 1 to 10, recognizing colours-red and yellow so far, sorting objects by size big and small and exploring shapes in our environment. In our lessons weve been playing games, singing songs and encouraging turn - taking and making choices.

WHATS HAPPENING IN CLASS 3 ?

In Class 3 we have just started inclusion and are making new friends and learning new skills. In class we have enjoyed cooking and our science work on life cycles.
