‘’APPIAN WAY’’

The Romans used the Appian Way as a main route for military supplies during their conquest of
southern Italy in 312 BC and for communication advancements. After so many years, the road is still
in good condition. The first three miles of the road are still open to car traffic, but after that, it is much
more enjoyable to walk.

The first major highway constructed especially for the purpose of moving troops outside of greater
Rome was the Appian Way. The Romans relied on this road heavily. Thankfully, the first 10 miles or
so of the Appian Way have been preserved as a local park. Along with the road, there are ruined
Roman structures, two significant Christian catacombs, and a church designating the location of
Peter's encounter with Jesus.

One of the top attractions in Rome is still the Appian Way, which was the first superhighway in Europe.
Because of how stunning it is, it is now a popular tourist destination. It has a lovely view, and you'll be
amazed by its past. These days, there are many monuments to stop at along the way, making it a
pleasant walk. Appian Way is worth the difficult hike, according to recent visitors.
