1. Using The School Shop WHS Policy and Procedures Manual, outline 6 tasks you would do at the start of
the day to ensure a safe working environment.

1 Check that all electrical equipment including store signage (computers, printers, chargers, etc.) is
in good condition and free from visible damage to cords, plugs, or sockets.

2 Ensure that computer monitors are at eye level, and keyboards and mice are at a comfortable
height.

3 Inspect chairs, desks, and other office furniture for stability and signs of wear or damage.

4 Ensure that office equipment is positioned to allow for safe passage and proper ventilation.

5 Replace or repair any flickering or malfunctioning light fixtures.

6 Regularly inspect hooks, benches, and mirrors for any issues that could pose a safety risk.

someone to trip over it and there could be a risk of injury.

Emergency Incident: FIRE


1. If practical, advise the manager immediately.
2. If unable to advise the manager immediately, call 000. Give details about the emergency and answer
questions directed by the operator.
3. Report to the Fire Warden/ Safety Officer (if the manager was not available).
4. Fire Warden/ Safety Officer (or Manager) to make the announcement.
5. Make sure everyone evacuates the building safely while following the announcement.
