Many writers believe that there are two types of greetings, according to the context in which they can
be applied as can be found below:
A-Formal greetings:
1. Hello!
2. Good morning
3. Good afternoon
4. Good evening
5. How are you?
6. How are you doing?
7. Are you fine?
8. Are you okay?
9. Are you well?
10. Are you nice?
B- Informal Greetings:
1. Howdy!
2. Hi!
3. Hey
4. What’s up?
5. Morning!
6. How are things?
7. How is it running?
8. How’s it running?
9. How goes it?
10. What’s new?
11. What’s happening?
12. how’s life
13. how’s life treating you?
14. What’s going on?
15. How are ya?

How do you do? (Formal. Especially in Britain)
