(3 points)

A.2. Identify what type of memory in a computer is being described. (3 points)

Type of Memory Description

Refers to working memory used for primary storage and it’s used
as temporary storage.

A smaller form of RAM. Its purpose is to speed up processing by

storing frequently called items in a small, rapid access memory
location.
It’s a form of permanent storage on the computer and carries
instructions that allow the computer to be booted (started), and
other essential machine instruction.

____5. Limited in their expansion possibilities, their ability to serve as full

participants in the office network, and the peripherals they can support.

____6. One of the smallest examples of this type are the Personal Digital Assistants
(PDAs). The PDA is a very small special function device which provides calendar,
contacts, and note-taking functions, and may provide word processing, spreadsheet
and a variety of other functions.

____7. They are used primarily in such work as defense and weaponry, weather
forecasting, advanced engineering and physics, and other mathematically intensive
scientific research application.

____8. In hospitals, they are used for an increasing number of independent

applications as well as serving as an intelligent link to the programs of the
mainframe.

____9. Hospital nursing departments use these to process specific applications such
as patient classification, nurse staffing and scheduling, and personnel management
applications.
