Climate change is a pressing global issue causing long-term shifts in temperature patterns,
precipitation levels, and weather events due to human activities. Causes include greenhouse gas emissions
from burning fossil fuels and deforestation. The effects include melting glaciers, increased extreme
weather events, disrupted agricultural systems, and threats to human health. Addressing climate change
requires global cooperation, policy interventions, and collective action, including transitioning to
renewable energy and sustainable land-use practices.

According to NASA, global temperatures recently have reached their highest levels in more than 2,000
years as Earth's surface continues to warm. Climate change is primarily caused by human activities, as
evidenced by studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Ice sheets in Greenland and
Antarctica have lost an average of 279 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2019, and recent
global temperatures are the hottest seen in over 2,000 years. The 2022 IPCC climate report shows the
effects of climate change are happening faster than previously expected, with global sea levels rising at
unprecedented rates over the past 2,500-plus years.

The following is the solution that we provided:

● Major tree-planting - Major tree planting initiatives aim to mitigate climate change by
sequestering carbon dioxide through tree planting. These initiatives involve afforestation and
reforestation, selecting tree species based on their carbon sequestration capacity and adaptability.
Strategic planting locations are chosen based on carbon sequestration potential. Community
engagement and partnerships are crucial. Long-term management strategies will be implemented,
and education and awareness programs will be promoted. This initiative will contribute to climate
change mitigation, habitat restoration, biodiversity conservation, and improved water
management.
● Nuclear energy - Nuclear energy can be a potential solution to climate change due to its low
greenhouse gas emissions, high energy density, and ability to provide baseload power and grid
stability. Its technological advancements, such as advanced small modular reactors, have
improved safety, efficiency, and waste management. Nuclear power can also contribute to energy
independence by reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels, enhancing energy security for
countries with limited domestic resources. However, challenges such as waste management,
potential accidents, high initial investment costs, and public perception of safety need to be
addressed.
● Changing to renewable energy sources - A rapid switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy
sources is a key strategy to tackle climate change. This transformation requires investments in
hydroelectric, solar, and wind power as well as regulatory incentives. Solar power is a crucial
solution to climate change, providing renewable energy, carbon emission reduction, energy
independence, job creation, and cost reduction. It is abundant and accessible, reducing
dependence on fossil fuels and promoting local resilience. Advancements in solar technology
have also led to improved efficiency and cost reduction. Solar power can be scaled up to meet
growing demand, contributing to decarbonization and integrating into existing power grids. Thus,
solar power is a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to combat climate change.
● Solidarity between nations - International cooperation is vital in addressing climate change, as it
helps reduce emissions, support adaptation, share knowledge, mobilize financial resources, and
establish global governance. It facilitates the development of early warning systems, disaster
preparedness plans, and infrastructure resilience. It also facilitates knowledge sharing and
capacity building, enabling informed decisions and effective climate strategies.
● Environmental education - Environmental education is crucial in preventing climate change
especially for the young generations because it raises awareness, promotes sustainable behaviors,
empowers young, builds resilience, and instills a long-term viewpoint. By enhancing
understanding of the relationship between human activities, greenhouse gas emissions, and the
complexity of climate change, it encourages responsible consumption and resource conservation.

Addressing climate change requires a comprehensive approach that includes mitigation, adaptation, and
sustainable development strategies. By doing these things, we promise to actively care for the
environment and be good stewards of it. The goal of the resolution is to protect the environment and
combat climate change. Solutions must be equitable, considering social, economic, and environmental
dimensions. Involving all stakeholders, including governments, businesses, civil society, and
marginalized communities, ensures inclusive decision-making and effective implementation.
