Internet of things (ICT)
It is a technological trend or development that developing countries with poor standard of living
(developing countries) such as Zimbabwe can adopt to boost their economies so as to improve the
welfare of their populations .The internet of things describes devices with sensors ,processing
ability , Software and other technologies that connect and exchange with other devices and systems
over the internet or other communications networks.
Types of internet of things (IoT)
1.CONSUME IoT –refers to personal and wearable devices that connect to the internet. These
devices are often reffered to as smart devices.
2.Industrial internet of things –The industrial internet of things is the system of interconnected
devices in the industrial sector. Manufacturing machinery and devices used for energy management
are part of the industrial internet of things.
3.Commercial IoT –refers to the tools and systems used outside of the home. For
example ,businesses and health care organization average commercial IoT for auditable data trails
and consumer management .
Advantages of internet of things (IoT)
-Improved quality of life of ordinary people in saving smart devices could save lives.
-Cost Reduction – Interconnected devices provide many opportunities for cost reduction.
-Higher Productivity – IoT can improve efficiency and productivity at work and in the industrial
sector.
-Health and safety – The technology help in save lives and medical advances have enables more
humans to reach old age.
-Risk of system – wide failures – A single bug or cyberattack could jeopardise the entire IoT network.
-Privacy and security vulnerabilities – managed IoT systems can expose sensitive data , and their
networked nature makes them susceptible to security breanches.
