Child Participants Needed!

Your child can take part in a fun research study online and contribute to our understanding of
how children think about the world!

Project Title: DOES THE USE OF TECHNICAL LANGUAGE IN SPEECH INDICATE


EXPERTISE AND GUIDE SELECTIVE TRUST IN INFORMANTS?

This research has been approved by the Toronto Metropolitan University Research Ethics Board.

Purpose:
This study investigates children’s use of technical language as a cue of expertise and how
this can influence who they chose to learn information from.

Who? What?
 Children who are 10-12 or 14-16  Your child will be asked to listen to ten
years of age pairs of short statements and answer a
 Typically developing without a few questions surrounding the topic of
known developmental diagnosis expertise.
 Fluent in English  Will be conducted through one 30-minute
 Access to a computer and Zoom Zoom meeting.
