HEAT STRESS ROCEDURE

TITLE:
Looking the increasing atmospheric temperature day by day & expecting that the coming season will be
too hot; we have made a plan to avoid heat stress of our employees as well as our workers working with
us.

PURPOSE:
This program is developed to protect employees and workers from hazards posed by working in the
outdoor environment. IVRCL is committed to prevent heat related illnesses that can occur to
employees and workers working outdoors.

SCOPE:
The procedure applied to all Employees, Sub-contractors, workers and Visitors who may be exposed to
or affected by environmental or radiant heat.

RESPONSIBILITY:
Concern area Supervisor / in-charge (IVRCL/Concerned Contractor), Head of Execution are responsible
to identify & provide the rest shelter for employees/ workers at identified locations.

PROCEDURE:
The plan is as follows—

a) Measuring the temperature & humidity on daily basis & keep the record for same.
b) Arrangement of rest shelters along with drinking water facility on walk able distance from the
working site area.
c) Arrangement of Glucose-C (Orange flavor) at our site First aid centre.
d) During Mass Tool Box Talk, prevention methods of heat stoke will be described.
e) Prevention method from heat stoke in detail will be described in weekly Mass Tool Box Talk.
f) Looking the temperature & humidity working time will be taken care or rest time will be
decided.
g) Rest Shelters will be marked in the plot plan.
h) All Supervisors/Engineers will be trained to avoid heat stress as well as to attain the victim (Due
to heat stress).
i) Employees/Workers will be advised to take plenty of drinking water.

Note:
Apart from all above said points, situation will be taken care as per Doctor’s advice. Additional control
measures will be implemented as necessary.

CONCLUSION:
This procedure will be effective from April’2010; so all employees, sub-contractors, workers and Visitors
have to co-operate and follow the guidelines in fulfillment of implementation of Safety Procedures.
