ECOLOGICAL PROFILE OF LA UNION 2022

INTRODUCTION
The Ecological Profile (EP) is a comprehensive, reliable, and realistic statistical database information which
serves as a vital reference and source for the formulation of policies and strategies for planning, decision
making and policy setting towards effective governance and effective management of the remaining
natural resources. Formerly named as the Socio-Economic Profile (SEP) of the Province of La Union, the
Ecological Profile gives an equal coverage to the physical, biological, socioeconomic, cultural, and built
environments. The shift from the Socio-Economic Profile to the Ecological Profile is encouraged and highly
recommended by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as it is the merger of the
Socio-Economic Profile and the biophysical profiles that would provide a broader data reference source.

It contains statistical data and information about the Province of La Union concerning the Financial
Stability; Economic and Dynamism Competitiveness; Resilient Communities, Organizational Governance
and Accountability, Infrastructure; and Macro Sectors. Likewise, the Profile can also be used as data
source for planning of the appropriate programs, projects and activities, formulation of policies and
making major decisions aimed to achieve the objectives of the Province’s Vision of being the Heart of GATEWAY TO ILOCANDIA
