Completing your assessment

What am I required to do on this assessment?

The students are required to demonstrate in-depth knowledge within ONE [1] PRINCE2®
element of the 21 elements we learn through weeks 7, 8, 9 & 10 sessions. Produce an A1
format poster created in Microsoft Powerpoint and convert it to PDF.
The contents of the Poster should include:

 Information about the roles in this element

 Information about the activities in this element
 Information about the files/documents in this element
 Main effects on other elements

The information given on the outline and poster arrangement are basic to achieve good
marks in the structure section (marking grid below). Directions are given in the workshop in
week 10.
After completing the poster, the students then record their presentation of the poster [15
minutes maximum presentation time] in Panopto and upload the Panopto link on
Blackboard with the PDF file of the poster in Blackboard. Directions on how to use Panopto
are online and also below later in this brief.

Where should I start?

1. Follow the directions in the Brief below about how to structure the poster
2. Study all the PRINCE2 elements in weeks 11-19
3. Attend the workshops and the writing retreat
4. Submit a draft POSTER SLIDE for formative feedback
5. Follow the formative feedback to make corrections to your drat

What do I need to do to pass?

Follow the directions on the poster content and presentation recording in this brief

How do I achieve high marks in this assessment?

Regular attendance and engagement will help you structure the poster

3
How does the learning and teaching relate to the assessment?
This assessment was created to help students understand the material in sessions 11-19.
1. Study all the elements of PRINCE2.
a. To assist with the preparation for these assessments, students will attend a
writing retreat afternoon workshop on week 10, where they will follow
direction to construct their poster. Students may also arrange for one draft of
their poster to be reviewed by the tutor to get additional formative feedback.
2. Submit one completed draft of the poster for formative feedback on the designated
time.
a. A link for draft submission will be set up in Blackboard where you can submit
the draft (date TBC) and the module leader will send you your feedback in 48
working hours. Do not send multiple emails and files of the same poster as
it will not be possible to respond to such volume of emails.
3. Look at the examples of previous submissions.

What additional resources may help me complete this assessment?

• FAQs and other workshop and seminar material on your Blackboard site
• UWE library study skills pages i.e. https://www.uwe.ac.uk/study/study-support/study-
skills on how to write a report
• Opportunities for formative feedback online via Teams upon request

What do I do if I am concerned about completing this assessment?

UWE Bristol offer a range of Assessment Support Options that you can explore through this
link, and both Academic Support and Wellbeing Support are available.
For further information, please see the Academic Survival Guide.

4
How do I avoid an Assessment Offence on this module? 2
The most important academic offence is plagiarism, which is the theft of ideas (Intellectual
Property). Plagiarism constitutes the copied text from ore than 7 words in sequence from
any source. To avoid this, you need to paraphrase and reference. Then you can use anyone’s
ideas without trouble.
The University uses Turnitin and SafeAssign to check for plagiarism. So you should:

1. Use the support mentioned above and also use the library training sessions on
writing if you feel unable to submit your own work for this module.
2. Use the Blackboard SafeAssign function (on the panel left menu) to check the
similarity of your output to other
3. Do not use unreferenced material from websites including figures and tables
because the plagiarism is found by the checking software
4. Do not copy paste other essays or copy the essays of your classmates because the
plagiarism is found by the checking software
5. Do not copy paste from books and articles without proper referencing.
6. Use proper referencing

Use proper referencing

References are expected to be in UWE Bristol Harvard style. Guidance on referencing is
available in the UWE library website (here).

Marks and Feedback

Your assessment will be marked according to the following marking criteria.
1. Clarity of purpose
2. Structure of the presentation
3. Content of the presentation
4.Quality of delivery

You can use these to evaluate your own work before you submit.
The marking grid is at the end of the document

5
Poster content

PRINCE2 has 21 elements. These are 7 principles, 7 themes and 7 processes. The poster is
one slide in the size of A1 that informs audiences of the main points of one of the 21
PRINCE2 elements (NOT PRINCE2Agile). The poster content should be specifically:

 The objective of the element

 The roles of the staff in this particular element
 The process activities
 The forms/documents used
 The links of the element with the other elements

DO NOT structure the poster like a research poster. DO NOT use sections like introduction,
methodology, analysis, conclusions etc. This is NOT a research poster.

A successful poster will not only attract a viewer's attention from afar, but will also outline
accurately and concisely the main points of your subject.

Guidelines and step-by-step directions and examples to help you prepare a successful and
effective poster are provided in week 10 (afternoon). Attend this week’s session and the
workshops. You will be given direction on the layout and format, style, images, colours
and structure of the slide.

Recording of the poster presentation in Panopto

Students are required to pre-record their poster presentation using Panopto and to upload
the recording on BlackBoard. Please note that adding the recording to Panopto and making
a submission to the assignment are two separate processes.
The Panopto app is available to download free from the UWE’s Appstore. You have all an
online Panopto file where you can store your recording and copy paste the link to
Blackboard with your submission.

Guidance on how to use Panopto to record and submit a presentation can be found on this
webpage. Help videos providing step-by-step guidance can be found here.
Specific guidance on how to use Panopto to capture meetings in Microsoft Teams can be
found here.

6
Please read carefully the following notes on how to use Panopto:
Important note 1: It is essential that you allow ample time before the submission deadline
to upload your recoding to the Panopto cloud (we recommend that you allow at least two
hours before the submission deadline). Depending on the size of the file, Panopto will take
some time to convert the file before it is available to attach to your assignment submission
through Blackboard.

Important note 2: To avoid upload problems, it is recommended that you upload very large
media files over a wired internet connection rather than wifi.

Important note 3: Uploading or creating a file in your Panopto “My folder” area does not
constitute a submission and instructors will not be able to access your file. You need to
complete the assignment submission process following the below steps.

Important note 4: If you are recording PowerPoint slides these will need to be saved to and
opened from your desktop. Not saving and opening from your desktop may result in your
recording failing to upload.

Important note 5: Submissions MUST be made using the Panopto Video Student Video
submission option from the add Content (+) button within the text editor. Using the
Panopto Video option will result in no recording being added to the submission.

Important note 6: Edits to your recording will need to have been made prior to submission
for online assessment (if you have already submitted, any edits will not be seen by your
marker). If you wish to edit after submission you will need to resubmit to the assignment
after the edits have been made.

Important Note 7: Students are able to view Panopto content attached to their submission
from their receipt on the Blackboard Coursework tab. Select the Panopto link under
‘Submission Text’. If it is only the Panopto content that has been added to a submission, a
warning message will show on the Coursework tab to indicate that no files are attached but
the Panopto content itself will be visible via the receipt. The warning message relates to file
attachments that you browse to rather than mashup content.

7
Important Note 8: Students are advised to contact, via phone preferably, ITOnline to resolve
access to Panopto and recording issues. Teaching staff do not have permissions to deal with
these issues,

You will receive feedback in a variety of forms throughout the module, therefore it is important to attend
timetabled sessions to ensure you do not miss out on these opportunities.

You will also receive feedback on assessed work; this may be individually or as a group/cohort, which will
enable you to understand how you have met the assessment criteria and identify areas for your further
improvement.

MyUWE is used to communicate unconfirmed marks, provide cover sheets for assessments and to submit
work. Further information on all aspects of your myUWE portal is available on the website.

 You will receive informal formative feedback verbally in all workshop & seminar sessions – ensure you
listen carefully.

 Weekly scheduled informal formative feedback sessions will be arranged every Friday afternoons to give
formative feedback to students who wish help.

 The meetings will last for 10-15 minute Teams sessions for informal formative feedback, once for every
student. Time slots for informal feedback will be run every Friday afternoon 14.00-17.00 pm UK time.
Please ask and schedule your session as soon as you can as slots are going to be taken soon.

 Please prepare one draft for formative feedback for each assignment to discuss in a formative meeting or
to submit to the module leader fr details on corrections. A link for draft submission for each assignment
will be set up in Blackboard where you can submit the draft (date TBC) and the module leader will send
you your feedback in 48 working hours. Do not send multiple emails and files of the same assessment
as it will not be possible to respond to such volume of emails.

 Before your formative feedback session, please make a bullet point list with the specific questions you
have about the assignment. You might be asked to fill in a self-assessment form before the meeting to
make sure that you have prepared sufficiently for the feedback to be taken in by you effectively.

 Each assessment you submit will be returned to you with written feedback, and consists of comments
made by tutors on students' assessed work which enables students to understand how they have met
the defined assessment criteria and identifying areas for further improvement. The period for providing
feedback will be set by the release of the grades by the Department. This period may be shorter or
longer for some forms of assessment. Outcomes which have not been confirmed by an examining board
shall be considered as unconfirmed.

 MyUWE is used to communicate unconfirmed marks, provide cover sheets for assessments and to submit
work.

1. In line with UWE Bristol’s Assessment Content Limit Policy (formerly the Word Count Policy),
word count includes all text, including (but not limited to): the main body of text (including
headings), all citations (both in and out of brackets), text boxes, tables and graphs, figures
and diagrams, quotes, lists.
2. UWE Bristol’s UWE’s Assessment Offences Policy requires that you submit work that is
entirely your own and reflects your own learning, so it is important to:
 Ensure you reference all sources used, using the UWE Harvard/OSCOLA system
(amend as appropriate) and the guidance available on UWE’s Study Skills referencing
pages.
 Avoid copying and pasting any work into this assessment, including your own
previous assessments, work from other students or internet sources
 Develop your own style, arguments and wording, so avoid copying sources and
changing individual words but keeping, essentially, the same sentences and/or
structures from other sources
 Never give your work to others who may copy it
 If an individual assessment, develop your own work and preparation, and do not
allow anyone to make amends on your work (including proof-readers, who may
highlight issues but not edit the work) and
When submitting your work, you will be required to confirm that the work is your own,
and text-matching software and other methods are routinely used to check submissions
against other submissions to the university and internet sources. Details of what constitutes
plagiarism and how to avoid it can be found on UWE’s Study Skills pages about avoiding
plagiarism.
