ABSTRACT

The size of computer is reducing from its first development in 19th century because it is very
difficult and tedious work to manage the bulky size computer. A new computer is designed by
Apostol Tnokovski recently which has all characteristics of existing computer and This is named
as ‘E-ball’. It is smallest personal computer in this time,spherical in shape having 6 inches
diameter only. E-Ball computer has all component of pre-existing computer keyboard, mouse,
webcam, DVD recorder, larger screen display etc. It is designed in specific way that it can be
placed on two stands.

It is opened by pressing and holding two buttons which are located at each side of E-Ball
computer at the same instant. It is possible that this new entity having different way of using it
can change the life of people completely in upcoming days.

It would need new skilled people for its repair which would also be expensive.

1. INTRODUCTION

E-Ball is one of the ingenious emerging technologies designed by Apostol Tnokovski, a 31 year
old Macedonian product designer. This sphere shaped PC is predominantly grounded on the laser
rays technique and dwells all the necessary and vital features which a normal computer possesses.
In other words, a complete computer is veiled inside it.

Principally designed for Microsoft Windows Operating System, this sophisticated technology
does not comprise of any external display unit. A button is provided for the purpose of projection
through LCD projector. On pressing this button, the projector will pop up which will focus the
computer screen on the wall. Navigation keys are provided for adjustment operations.

This technology is astounding and exclusive in a way that it consists of a paper sheet holder
which divides into three pieces like an umbrella just after popping up, and it will how desktop on
the paper sheet in the absence of any wall. This paper holder can also act like a screen for making
exquisite presentations or watching movies. This technology is the eighth wonder which can
revolutionize the world sooner prove to be efficacious in years to come.

2. HISTORY

The E-Ball concept PC is a sphere shaped computer which is the smallest design among all
the laptops and desktops. Soon E-BALL based computer will be the new pc to be used in the
near
future. E-ball is a emerging technology which was invented by a 31 year old Macedonian
product designer, Apostol Tnokovski. The E-Ball concept PC is a sphere shaped computer
concept which is the smallest design among all the laptops and desktops have ever made.

This is a new concept of PC which features all the traditional elements like keyboard, mouse,
webcam, DVD player, projector etc., and it is the smallest type of computer ever made. The
software interface of E-Ball is highly stylized with icons that can be numbered easily and is user
friendly. This compact PC will be ideal for use when working in office, making video
presentation, watching large screen movies, listening music and chatting on the net.

E Ball is designed that pc is be placed on two stands, opens by pressing and holding the two
buttons located on each side of the E-Ball pc, After opening the stand and turning ON the
PC, pressing the detaching mouse button will allow you to detach the optical mouse from
the PC body. This concept features a laser keyboard that can be activated by pressing the
particular button. E-Ball is very small, it is having only 6 inch diameter sphere. It is
having 120×120mm motherboard.

It is definitely small when it comes to the size but as they say all good things come in Small
packages, this tiny round PC is no exception.

3. ELEMENTS OF E-BALL

A) RAM
Random Access Memory(RAM). RAM is a volatile Memory. It is a storage device
but the data is not store Permanently.[1]E-ball pc is basically uses the 5GB of RAM. RAM is
measure by bits.8bits equal to 1 byte. It has two types Of RAM. SRAM &DRAM.

B) Processor
Intel core is a brand name used for various mid-range to High end consumer on
business micro processor made by intel. The current line-up of core processors include the latest
Processor: intel core i7, intel core i3, intel core2 solo, intel Core i5, intel core2 duo, intel core2
quad. The E-ball basically Uses Intel core2 duo processor[2].

C) Speakers
The E-ball has two inbuilt 50W speaker. The E-ball pc speakers work in very high
speed.

D) Holographic Display
Holographic is the best way of displaying the true 3Dimension displays.[4] It is a type
of diffraction based Display technology which reconstructs the light field of 3D in Space with
the light.

E) Hard Disk Drive

In every pc the hard disk drive is the major part it is a Secondary storage device. It is
a volatile in nature. It consists of oxide coated metal platter that can be magnetized to represent
data, The E-ball pc has a 350-500GB hard disk drive.

F) HD-DVD Recorder
HD is the expansion of high definition-DVD recorder Is an independent unit which dwells the
functions of video cassette recorder. It records into a DVD disc or in the internal disc.

G) LAN & WAN cards

LAN is used to connect the user to LAN through wireless connection. WAN is used to
connects the user to a WAN. WAN Is a network interface card.

H) Webcam
Webcam is extensively used by all the computers. It can be connected to E-ball through
USB cable or fire wire cable.

4. SIZE OF E-BALL

E-ball is a spherical sphere shape ball of 6-inch in Diameter and contains a motherboard of size
of 120x120mm.E-ball is made up of aluminum and plastic body. E-ball is very small, it is having
only 6 inch diameter sphere. It is having 120Ã-120mm motherboard and 160 mm round shape. It
contains wireless optical mouse and laser keyboard, and LCD projector. It is portable and has
large memory

5. WORKING OF E-BALL

It contains wireless optical mouse and laser keyboard and LCD projector. It has around 350-
600GB of Hard Disk Drive .It contains 5GB RAM. It has two 50W speakers. It Has LAN and
WLAN card and a webcam. This device has An optical keyboard and a holographic display. So,
don’t Have a physical keyboard and no monitor! Still, the mouse Is physical but it fits in to the
computer when you want to carry it around. E Ball don’t have any external display unit, It has a
button when you press this button a projector will pop and it focus the computer screen on the
wall which can Be adjusted with navigation keys. If there is no wall then it has a paper sheet
holder that divides into three pieces like An umbrella just after popping up, and it will show
desktop on the paper sheet. Also, the E-Ball PC supports a paper Holder and the paper sheet on
the holder could act like a Screen where you can watch movies or something.
This Concept PC will measure 160mm in diameter and it was Designed for Microsoft Windows
OS. E-Ball concept pc Has a laser keyboard that is fully a concept keyboard that is Visible when
the pc is in working. The keyboard is not Physical – it is interpreted by lasers that appear after
press The respective button.
It recognizes your fingers with the Help of an IR sensor when you are typing at a particular
Place, while the mouse is a pop out wonder making this an Existing piece of technology-Ball
concept pc work very easy while You are making video presentations, listening music Watching
large screen movies, and chatting on the net.
5.1working of Display unit
When the stand has been opened and the system has been turned on, it becomes functional only
when the screen or the display unit is available The display unit is not physically present or
attached on to the E-BALL.
IF THERE IS NO WALL ?
The real problem arises if there is no wall to work as a screen. In case we are working in an open
place without any wall, then we can use a sheet of paper to work as screen for us. The sheet
holder is on the back of the E-BALL, and can be opened by pressing it on its lower part. As it
pops up, it gets divided into three parts like an umbrella and the sheet can be placed on it to work
as screen.

6.COMPONENTS OF E-BALL
a)Projector
Projector focuses on the computer screen on a wall, on Pressing and holding the button a projector will
display from The upper surface on theE-ball. There are types of projector

 LCD(Liquid crystal display)

 DLP(Digital light processing)
i) LCD(Liquid crystal display)

LCD is used to display Videos,Image and computer data on the screen . LCD uses metal halide
lamp to emit the light and A series of Di-chloric filters to separate the lights.LCD videos Signals
are comprised of primary colours:red,green,and blue.LCD are more light efficient than DLP
projectors. In Figure

DLP is based on DMD(Digital micro mirror device)Chip.Each DMD chips is comprised of

two million of tiny Mirror. Each tiny mirror is capable of producing pixels. The Advantages
of DLP projector are higher contrast and less door Screen effect. The image is created by

B)Virtua keyboard

It is a wireless laser projection keyboard which uses the principle of sensor technology. Virtual
keyboard is also called laser keyboard[4].It is not physical but it is visible on a flat surface when pc is
working. In laser keyboard infrared sensors are used keyboard three Component.

i) Sensor module

The sensor module act as eyes of the keyboard. It is used to detect which key is press by user.

ii)IR-LIGHT Source
The IR-light source is not visible by the user. The IR-light source emits a ray of infrared light.

iii)Pattern-projector

The pattern projector is used to display the image of Keyboards is projected on a flat surface. In

C)Modem port

The Modem port is used to connect the internet to the Computer. Using standard telephone
Service., modem Port is used for connecting PC to the Internet. The Computer can call an Internet
service provider (ISP) to Deliver the desired information over voice lines with the Help of it.

D)power port

The Power port is used to plug-in any electronic Device such as DVD player

E)S-video port

Popularly known as S-Video and super Video, separate video is an antilog video transmission that
Hauls standard definition video customarily at 480i or 576i Resolution.

F)Paper sheet holder

Paper sheet holder can be used in the absence of walls. It is at the back of the pc. The lower part has
to be pressed to open the paper sheet holder. The projector will recur by pressing the paper sheet
holder button for five seconds. It is used to portrays the presentation. If there is no Wall for projection
of computer screen. We Can make the use of paper sheet holder. The holder can be Opened by
pressing it in the lower part of pc for 5 seconds. It is Used to portrays the presentation.

7.OPTICAL MOUSE
Also there is an optical mouse which is normally attached to the body of the E-BALL. The
mouse can be detached from the body of the E-BALL by pressing the mouse detaching
button on the left hand side of the PC body at the front (when the mouse is attached to the E-
BALL).

To get a clear understanding of the mouse, detaching button and also its location on the E-BALL
PC, a picture is provided below:

It is wireless device which uses the light emitting diode for purpose of tracking movement of
optical mouse.It completes the demand of E-ball computer properly. It can be easily carried from
one place to another place.

8.VIRTUAL LASER KEYBORD

The E-BALL PC has a laser keyboard which is concept keyboard which is visible only when the
PC is in working mode. The keyboard is not physical rather it is interpreted by lasers which come
into play when the respective button is pressed.

It recognizes your fingers with the help of your Infrared sensors when you are typing at a
particular place. The Virtual Laser Keyboard (VKB) leverages the power of laser and
infrared technology and projects a full-size keyboard onto any flat surface. E-Ball concept
pc has a laser keyboard that is fully a concept keyboard that is visible when the pc is in working.
The keyboard is not physical – it is interpreted by lasers that appear after you press the
respective button. It recognizes your fingers with the help of an IR sensor when you are typing
at a particular place, while the mouse is a pop out wonder making this an exiting piece of
technology.

9.THE SOFTWARE INTERFACE

The software interface of the E-BALL PC is highly stylized with icons that support all types of
Windows operating system.

Also, the icons can be easily remembered and are easy to use. So the interface is very user
friendly The various icons that are available on the display screen on the left hand side are as
shown below in the picture.

10 . 5-STEPS OF E-BALL

1. Place the pc using the two stands on suitable surface it is opened by pressing and
holding two buttons which is located at each side of the E-ball.

2. Adjust the LCD projector and detach the optical mouse from The body of E-ball.

3. The keyboard is activated by pressing the keyboard activation button.

4. Press the front button projector will pop up and a computer screen will be focused
on wall. If there is no wall, use paper sheet holder

5. Now E-ball is ready to use do whatever we want

11. FEATURES OF E-BALL

• It contains wireless optical mouse and laser keyboard, and LCD projector.

• It has around 350-600GB of Hard Disk Drive.

• It contains 2GB RAM.

• It has two 50W speakers.

• Checks lighting of room using sensors and adjusts the projection light
intensity Accordingly.

• It has LAN and WLAN card and a Web cam.

• It is small in size so it is easy to carry.

• The keyboard is a virtual one not a physical keyboard and it is available only when the E-
BALL pc is working mode

The display is also a holographic display and any wall or a sheet of paper can work as display
screen

12. SCENARIOS FOR USE

 The first place for E-BALL to find an application is while working in office.

 Also t can be used for making video presentations

 Also watching movies can be great use that can be extended out of the E-BALL in day
of day life

 Chatting on the internet can be done very easily and is an important utility that can
be derived from The E-BALL PC as it can help in conducting online conference.

13. ADVANTAGES OF E-BALL

• The E-BALL PC is small in size as it has spherical shape and hence this makes the
PC Portable and easy to carry from one place to another.

• E-BALL PC has a large memory and thus can be used

• Also the working speed of the E-BALL PC is great.

• The E-BALL PC supports user defined keyboard layout.

• Useful for making video presentations.

• It is more secure than other computer

• It reduces e-waste by using a virtual keyboard and monitor.

• It is lightweight.

14. DISADVANTAGES OF E-BALL

• Normal OS can’t work in these computers.

• Cost of E-Ball is very high.

• It is difficult to understand if any problems occur in Hardware components.

• Also since the E-BALL PC has virtual laser keyboard, holographic display
detachable Mouse, it has high cost.

• Any hardware problem is difficult to handle and recover from.

• It would need new skilled people for its repair which would also be expensive.

15. CONCLUSION

Today the technology is beyond what we could imagine before. Also now-a-days, the new
developments are not just the result of the necessity, rather invention and innovation are the new
drivers in the development of technology.

The new concept of E-BALL PC that has been proposed few years back but yet has not
practically implemented for use in any field. But still the E-BALL PC concept has Provided the
idea for design of future PC.
