The campaign lasted for about 50 days and work
covered a wide area, focusing on the central part and
the western slope (Fig. 1). In addition to this, work
continued in the Deep Trench 3 (DA 3) that was opened
in 2006 and work on the Early Neolithic II (EN II)
excavations –begun in 2005– also continued in a limited
area to the west of Trench A in the northern half of the
mound.

We have presented a summary of the finds from the
Neolithic and EBA settlements excavated in 2007 cam-
paign. The most significant result obtained this year is the
presence of Early Chalcolithic and Late Neolithic settle-
ments lying beneath the extensive EBA II settlements in
the southern half of the mound. Despite the fact that a
relatively small number of potsherds and only a corner of
a building with stone foundations have been uncovered,
the evidence shows that the lower strata in the southern
half of the mound belong to the later phase of the
