Discord
Discord is a FREE online platform that offers 1-on-1 instant messaging, group text chats, voice & video chats, image,
video & link sharing, and screen-sharing through the creation of “hub”-like communities called SERVERS.
Servers can hold from 1 - 500,000 people in them with custom online spaces called CHANNELS to hang out, game,
talk, or share in. ROLES can be created for moderation, leadership, self-identity, and administration.
Discord was created in 2015 by Jason & Stan because they, as seen on the Discord home page “[cherished] the
friendships and connections that formed while playing [games].” While gaming was already popular, online players
suffered without an EASY and DIRECT way to communicate while playing games.
Discord
While Discord started out as a gaming community platform, it evolved into a social hub for gamers and non-gamers
alike! Discord connects its users globally. Discord offers Accessibility through talk-to-text, text-reading, keyboard in education
shortcuts, and animation & color changes.
