The oration titled "We Value Life" by Gian Vince Q.

Garcia is a thoughtful speech that

emphasizes the importance of valuing human life and cherishing it through the principles of
liberty, integrity, fortitude, and excellence. The speech is well-structured and filled with
powerful messages that promote unity and personal growth. However, this critique will examine
the oration in my own words, assessing its strengths and weaknesses.

The length of the speech is suitable to maintain the audience's attention without it becoming
overwhelming. The Oration started with a strong opening, it captured the audience's attention by
introducing the concept of "Panagdiwang" or the season of celebration, and the central theme of
valuing life. This opening sets the stage for the oration. The central theme of valuing life and the
philosophy of "We Value Life" is powerful and universally relevant. It highlights that life itself
has intrinsic value and the importance of this message in a world marked by conflicts and
divisions. Additionally, Mr. Garcia articulates the message clearly and concisely, using
straightforward language that makes it easier to understand. The explanation of the philosophy
and its connection to liberty, integrity, fortitude, and excellence is logically presented. The piece
also employs rhetorical devices effectively, such as alliteration in "liberty is the foundation," and
metaphors like "integrity is the North Star." These enhance the speech's impact and make it more
memorable. Moreover, Quoting Khalil Gibran's words adds depth to the speech, emphasizing the
idea that challenges and suffering can lead to personal growth and strength. Finally, the closing
sentence, "May we continue to find profound meaning and purpose in our shared human
experience," is a strong way to conclude the oration, leaving the audience with a lasting thought.

I've already stated the oration piece is well structured thus the grammar in the piece needs no less
of any critical judgment. The oration employs a variety of sentence structures effectively and
demonstrates a rich vocabulary and thoughtful word choice, enhancing its impact the sentences
are well-constructed and contribute to the overall cohesiveness of the speech. No glaring issues
with sentence structure are apparent, and they are varied to maintain the audience's interest. It
also utilizes punctuation to clarify the meaning and structure of sentences. Commas are used to
separate items in a list and create pauses for improved comprehension. Periods, dashes, and
semicolons are used to separate different ideas, enhance readability, and emphasize the
relationships between thoughts. Subject-verb agreement is consistently maintained throughout
the oration. For example, "the sanctity of life that holds that human lives are intrinsically
valuable" correctly pairs the plural subject "human lives" with the plural verb "are". Pronoun
usage in the oration is appropriate and contributes to its clarity. For instance, "It signifies a
commitment to honesty" effectively uses "it" to refer to integrity. Mr. Garcia skillfully uses
formal language, clear definitions, evocative phrasing, metaphors, and inspirational language to
engage the audience and emphasize the importance of valuing life and the core principles
presented.

The tone Mr. Garcia used while delivering the oratory was overpowering and celebratory, but
there are times when his powerful voice is not needed nevertheless I'm impressed with his
overall performance. The speech begins with a celebratory tone, evident in phrases like "I stand
before you in the spirit of celebration," and "Our gathering is a testament to the art of
celebration." This tone creates a sense of festivity, engaging the audience's emotions and
attention. The oration maintains an overpowering tone throughout, encouraging the audience to
value life and embrace the core values presented. The orator addresses the audience as
"cherished fellow human beings," conveying a warm and inclusive tone. This choice of language
fosters a sense of connection and unity among the listeners. Phrases like "Let us aspire for
excellence" and "Let us all celebrate the value of life by demonstrating liberty, integrity,
fortitude, and excellence" inspire the audience to strive for personal growth. Lastly, the closing
sentence expresses gratitude and hope, leaving the audience with a sense of appreciation for the
shared human experience and the potential for finding profound meaning and purpose. Overall,
the tone of this oration is well-suited to its theme and message. It effectively combines
celebration, inspiration, inclusivity, and reflection to engage the audience and leave them with a
sense of purpose and unity.

The oration, "We Value Life," delivered by Gian Vince Q. Garcia, is a powerful and
thought-provoking speech, well-structured and engaging oration that conveys its central message
of valuing human life and the importance of liberty, integrity, fortitude, and excellence. While it
could benefit from more specific examples and enhanced audience engagement techniques, It
combines emotional appeal, a thought-provoking quote, and a call to action to inspire the
listeners to reflect on the values discussed and their significance in their own lives.
