Importance of Oral Commununication as a Subject in Senior High School :

Oral communication is crucial in senior high school as it enhances students'

interpersonal skills, public speaking abilities, and teamwork. It prepares them for real-
world situations, fosters self-confidence, and improves their overall communication
competence, which is essential for academic success and future careers.

Learnings In Oral Communication:

The field of oral communication provides a wealth of knowledge that goes well beyond the
classroom. This vibrant area has been a voyage of self-discovery, offering priceless insights into the
science and art of successfully communicating ideas through spoken words. I go over some of the
most important lessons I learned from studying oral communication here.

First and foremost, the topic has taught me the value of being precise and clear in speech. The
capacity to express ideas and thoughts in a way that is clear and intelligible is essential for effective
communication. I've developed the ability to choose words carefully via exercises and practice,
making sure that my messages are understood correctly and are heard.

I've also learned to value the complex dance that takes place between speaking and listening.
Meaningful discourse relies on active listening, an oral communication ability that is stressed. My
comprehension of spoken language has been enhanced by developing my ability to listen intently and
discern subtleties in tone and pitch. I now understand that communication is a two-way process in
which both the speaker and the listener are essential components of a dynamic interaction.

Another essential component of the topic that has profoundly impacted my comprehension of
interpersonal dynamics is non-verbal communication. I now know how to read body language, facial
emotions, and gestures—the silent language of communication. This increased understanding of
nonverbal signals helps me not just interpret nonverbal cues more effectively but also presents a
more assured and friendly image in my own conversation.

Effective communication relies heavily on adaptability, and this topic has highlighted the necessity of
customizing one's style to suit various audiences and situations. The capacity to modify one's
communication style guarantees resonance with the target audience whether making a formal
presentation or taking part in an informal debate. Having the ability to express myself freely has been
one of my most effective communication tools.

In addition, the topic has made me more aware of how worldwide communication has become. The
subtleties and variations in culture have a big impact on how well verbal exchanges work. I have
developed a greater understanding of the value of cultural sensitivity and a better respect for the
diversity of communication styles via case studies and real-world examples.

Finally, studying oral communication has helped me become more confident in my capacity to
express myself well. The organized public speaking and group discussion chances have given me a
platform for personal growth, enabling me to get over my fears and hone my persuasive and assured
voice.

Memorable Experience:
My most memorable experience in oral communication was the speech choir. Even
though it was tiring to practice, it turned into fun when we performed because it was
successful. It was my first experience giving a speech choir, and I want to experience it
again.

In an oral communication subject, you can expect to develop skills in effective verbal expression,
active listening, and public speaking. Key learnings may include understanding nonverbal cues,
structuring speeches, adapting communication to different audiences, and improving overall
interpersonal communication abilities. Additionally, you might learn to manage nerves, handle
questions confidently, and enhance your overall commu
Reflection about the activity (speech choir) :
Being a part of a speaking choir has been a life-changing and enlightening experience
that has allowed me to express myself in new ways and stretch the boundaries of my
comfort zone. In addition to improving my vocal range, this cooperative mode of
communication has increased my understanding of the impact of synchronized melody
and spoken word.

The speech choir's amazing ability to blend music and speech to create a seamless
story is among its most remarkable features. A performance that is both fascinating
and unforgettable is produced when melodic songs and spoken words work in
harmony. I've discovered via this art form that communication is more than just
words; it also includes the emotional resonance, cadence, and subtle tones used in
delivery. It matters how something is said as much as what is said that truly
captivates the audience.

In our speaking choir experience has shown us how important coordination and
collaboration are. Unlike solo performances, speaking choir calls for teamwork, with
each member contributing significantly. It has been difficult yet gratifying to learn how
to harmonize not just vocally but also with time, intensity, and emotion. This
experience has taught me the value of peacefully contributing to a greater artistic
vision and has reaffirmed the importance of teamwork.

Additionally, speech choir has taught me the value of flexibility and adaptation. We
had to be adaptable in the way we delivered our performances because of the variety of
genres and subjects we covered. Whether it's bringing life to a bright composition or
utilizing a somber piece to deliver a sad message, one of the skills I've developed is the
ability to modify our voices and facial expressions to fit the tone of each performance.
This versatility has improved my vocal range and given me a useful life skill by
enabling me to handle a variety of circumstances with elegance and flexibility.

Beyond only the technical elements, speaking choir has given me a chance to develop
personally. My confidence has increased as a result of getting over my initial fear of
performing in front of an audience. I have greatly benefited from the helpful criticism I
have received from professors and classmates, who have helped me identify areas for
development and refine my delivery. I now have a strong feeling of resilience and a
dedication to ongoing self-development as a result of this ongoing process of progress.

In addition, speaking choir has made members feel more bonded to one another. The
art of collaborative communication is appreciated via the shared process of creating a
performance, the shared setbacks, and the shared victories. Speech choir has been a
transformational experience rather than merely a topic examination of the complex
interactions between words, melodies, and human connection.
