Lab #3 ADDs C. H.

When creating a Active Directory Accounts, first thing is to plan out how you want to design it. I only
made one forest with three Organizational Units(UO) in it.

After planning it out I went to set up the Active Directories on Server 2022. Once on the server manager,
hit the “Add Roles and Features” button.
Hit “Next”
Select the “Role based or feature based installation” option and hit next

Hit “Next”
Select the “Active Directory Domain Services” check box and hit “Next”

Hit “Add Features” button when it pops up


Hit “Next”

Hit Next
Hit “Install” and wait for the installation to happen. When the blue bar at the top is full you can close.

At the top right corner there’s a flag with a yellow “!” indicator click that then click on “Promote this
server to a domain controller”
Type in your domain name, I made mine “holmanc.local” then hit “Next”

Set up your password then hit “Next”


Hit Next FOUR times to get to the prerequisites check and when you’re ready click on “Install”. The
system do a reboot after the installation.

When you get back into server manager. Click “AD DS” on the left hand side, then right-click the server
in the centre and scroll down until you see “Active Directory Users and Computers” click on that.
Creating Organization Units
Right click on the domain controller, scroll down to “new” and select “Organizational Unit”

Type in the name of your OU and click “ok”


Creating Users

Highlight the OU folder on the left hand side, right click, hover over new and click User

Enter your new user information hit next


Create a password for new user and hit next

Hit finish when it’s done


Creating Groups

We will do the same thing as before, right click the OU folder, hover over new and click on Group

Fill our group name information and hit OK


Right click on the user, device, etc and click “Add to a group…”

Enter the user or computer you wish to add then it OK

That’s it! You’ve created groups/OU’s and Users!

Difficulties Encountered:

• No difficulties encountered. It was pretty straight forward
