Research Problem

You have just been hired as a management trainee by a firm that


manufactures major appliances. Your boss has asked you to
develop a questionnaire to determine how households plan to buy,
purchase, and use major appliances. This questionnaire is to be
used in a nationwide study. Design the questionnaire and explain
your approach to designing the questionnaire to management.

To understand factors that affect household's decision to
purchase major appliances.
To understand what types of major appliances customers are
planning to buy.
To understand the usage patterns of major appliances.
To help manufacturers in making better marketing strategies.
To investigate household satisfaction with the product.

About Major appliances
Household major appliances refer to large electrical or gas-powered
appliances that are used in homes for various purposes such as cooking,
cleaning, and cooling/heating.
Major appliances are typically fixed in place and are not designed to be
moved frequently.
Household major appliances are designed to make daily household tasks
more convenient and efficient.
Some common major appliances are Refrigerators, Dishwashers, Washing
machines, Dryers, Ovens, Air conditioners, Heaters

Target audience: Our target audience for this study is Joint


family, Nuclear family, and Bachelors.
Sample size: The Sample size for the study is of 36 people.
Sampling Method: The sample was selected using Simple
random sampling.

We can conclude that customers generally spend between


10K to 25K Rs for buying major appliances.
During buying of appliances, customers give preference to the
Brand, Quality, and Price.
Customers are planning to purchase the Air Conditioner and
Refrigerator.
Before purchasing appliances nearly 75% of people research
the product.

Nearly 50% of people give importance to the energy


efficiency of products while purchasing.
Nearly 50% of people clean and do maintenance of the major
appliances
Nearly 75% of people buy products from stores.
Nearly 80% of people purchase products that come with a
warranty or guarantee.

Conclusion
In conclusion, we will ensure that the questionnaire is designed
to provide valuable insights into the behavior of households
when purchasing major appliances and understanding the
factors that influence purchasing decisions.
It can also help us identify common purchasing patterns and
the amount of money that people are willing to spend on major
appliances.
By this, we are confident that the questionnaire will be effective
in achieving the research objectives and providing the boss with
the information he needs to make informed decisions.
