I. Passage : 1 Chronicles 29:19 NASB

19 and give my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies,
and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the temple for which I have made
provision.”

II. Title : “For a Son”

III. Introduction :
King David, one of the most significant figures in the Old Testament, reigned as the second
king of Israel. He is known for his exceptional leadership, military prowess, and his deep devotion to
God. One of David's notable desires was to build a temple for the Lord in Jerusalem. However, God
did not permit David to construct the temple because he was a man of war and had shed much blood.
Instead, God promised David that his son, Solomon, would carry out this monumental task.
We all know his last godly request ti the Lord is to build the house for the Lord – a Temple. However,
this was not granted to him rather it was his son Solomon was chosen to build it. Therefore, his prayer
to the Lord is that Solomon will have a heart of obedience and a heart of worship so that he will build
it wonderfully…

This verse is part of King David's prayer, which begins in verse 10 and continues until verse 20, as a
contextual background:

A. Recognition of God's greatness and provision (vv.10-13)

B. Acknowledgment of the people's offerings (vv. 14-18)
C. Prayer for Solomon's obedience (vv. 29:19) This is David’s Payer!
D. Acknowledgment of God's response (vv. 29:20)

IV. Lesson Outline:

I. A Perfect Heart
a. to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes,
b. to do them all

II. A Provision

Exposition

I. A Perfect Heart
a. to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes

• David starts his prayer by praising and exalting God, acknowledging His greatness, power, and
glory in verses 10-13
• He recognizes that everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to God, and that wealth and
honor come from Him.

• David acknowledges that the people of Israel are merely temporary residents on earth, and all they
possess is a gift from God. Acknowledgment of the people's offerings in verses 14-18.
• David proclaims that all greatness, power, glory, majesty, and splendor belong to the Lord.

 All the wonderful attributes of God was poured from his hearts.
 We are reminded of God's eternal nature and His supremacy over all things. He is the source of
wealth and honor, and He holds ultimate authority over every aspect of our lives.
 First, David prayer for his son to have a perfect heart of obedience.
 In order to keep all God’s commandments…and His divine laws or decrees.
 Generally, in building the temple it was all accomplished well because of God’s amazing guidance
and a well prepared planned through the assistance of his father David and most of all the provision
of the Lord in everything that needed for it’s building such as the skilled people and even materials to
used.
 In short, this was answered not because of man’s effort but God’s sovereign plan and purpose.
 Like us, we should pray that whenever we understood the commandments of the Lord we should
have a heart of obedience to obey
 Can we reflect our heart today? How obedient we are in following God’s commandments
in to our lives.
 Apostle John reminded this word in 1 John 5: 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his
commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
3
tinatanggap o may halong pagtutumanggi.
 Alam ba natin na ang pagsunod ay nagpapakita n gating pag-ibig sa Diyos.
 Nawa magkaroon din tayo ng ganung klaseng puso!

b. to do them all…

 Like David, it is like a prayer of perfection, we all know even us we can’t do it all.
 But did you know how we can be perfect in the eyes of command by means of following His
commandments is to possess the divine nature of His Son – the Lord Jesus Christ as a perfect and
sinless man.
 In the case of Solomon, it is God that will perform in His behalf in spite of his shortcomings, such
as becoming idolaters, and a womanizer.
 Again, what lesson we can take on this… It is not that Solomon’s failure that matters, it is the
prayer of David that should kept in our hearts to constantly pray for our children in order to assure that
God will help them to obey and perform the God-given assignments for them.
 That’s our task as a parents and our children now had a direct accountability once they will grown
up
 So, for us we must not forget and ceased to pray for them and guide them until the day that the
Lord Jesus will come again.

 Hard to accomplished but becomes easy when we realized that more than we care as earthly
parents is our Heavenly Father loves them so much.

c. to build the temple

 This is the culminating part of David’s prayer to build the temple.

 Like David, this is his devotion to Yahweh, like Solomon His devotion to Yahweh is to make a
house for the Lord.
 Like us, we are the living temple of the Living God
 The Presence of the Holy Spirit in out life.
 1 Corinthians 6: 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within
you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a
price. So glorify God in your body.
 Take care of our earthly temple (body) and how much more our heavenly temple (Spirit) and
most of all our Soul that battles in between.
 The bible speaks of it’s importance in Mark 8: 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the
whole world and forfeit his soul?
 The most crucial assignment we have today is how to take care our soul if we are not glorifying
God through this.
 Soul is the seed of our will, will to disobey and will to obey.
 May each one of us will wholly devote our soul to Jesus as our Soul Keeper and the anchor of our
Soul.
 Build our own temple through our lives so that God will be lifter up in our lives as well!

II. A Provision
….for which I have made provision.”

 The sweetest word of this verse is this.

 After all man’s effort in working up the plans of God, the bottom line is God is EVERYTHING.
 He provides all, the sources like materials (gold, silver, bronze, and etc.), the workers (carpenter,
welder, painter, foreman, planner and a builder).
 Spiritually speaking, every one of us had a critical role to play in accomplishing the mission of God
towards us.
 We are TRIBBES Church, have we ever wonder what’s our purpose?
 Have we ever wondered why I needed to attend every Wednesday?
 Have you ever wonder, why I needed to learn to study God’s word?
 Have you ever wondered why I needed to pray?
 If this question was not yet answered in our heart and mind?
 Everything is in vain! We do not really understood the mind of God.
 The word “I” a declarative name of God – consider this “He is the real Blessor” the source of
everything.
 Someone said, never focus in the blessings, rather focus in the Blessor”
 Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein,

V. Conclusion:
In conclusion, It reminds us of the importance of integrity and wholehearted devotion in our
worship and service to God. It encourages us to examine our motives, align our hearts with His will,
and offer ourselves and our resources with sincerity and joy. May we continually seek to please God
and live lives of genuine worship and service.

VI. Application:

Let us strive to cultivate a heart that delights in giving to God, not out of compulsion or obligation, but
out of love and gratitude for all that He has done for us. May our worship be characterized by
wholehearted devotion, sincere intent, and genuine joy, as we seek to honor God and glorify His
name.

VII. Challenge:
10
David exclaims this wonderful word in Psalm 51: Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Mayroon ba talagang tayong dalisay na puso sa tuwing tayo ay nananalangin sa Diyos?

Let us Pray…..
