Since world is changing at a faster pace.

The impact of crises like climate change, rapidly depleting

natural resources, income disparities, etc. are getting bigger. People are getting more socially aware of
their responsibilities towards the communities. That’s why businesses of social impact are on rise. We
can see social enterprises and startups coming up in good numbers. People are realizing the fact that
their business can be profitable and socially impactful as well. The tendency today is towards satisfaction
and making a difference, and not merely money making.

Social impact initiatives and CSR activities is one such area where business rivals, competitors can come
together and use their resources to help social problems. In fact, UN is also supporting businesses that
are committed to responsible business practices through UN Global Compact initiative.

Moreover, all of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) can be profitably tackled by businesses.

If we see on individual level, then making a difference or being a part of it serves as a great motivating
factor. And this translates to satisfaction as well in all the people in the business who are helping the
needy people in the society by just doing their job. It’s a win-win situation for all.

I think highly of social impacts of businesses and I myself want to avail this win-win opportunity and
want to venture into social entrepreneurship. Obviously, who doesn’t want to make a difference in the
society as part of the job.
