Radars and sensing in particular are going to be a base for gesture recognition!

Why do we need to combine communication and sensing?

Answers:

1) There is a common phy background. They use electromagnetic waves. And usually, we combine
what has the same physics background.
2) The second reason is that we can increase the effectiveness of communication by sensing, by
enhancing CSI, channel knowledge and improve beamforming, power control and so on.
3) The 3rd is opposite. We already have a huge cellular infrastructure and why not to use it for
sensing purposes?
4) Another reason is the fact that spectrum is limited and already a lot of spectrums is allocated for
different services. So, it is better to combine both similar technologies.
5) New business opportunities. New use cases.

Due to the large variety of use cases there is a high probability that 6G will have different wave forms.
In case of sensing we don’t have a suitable and consistent model for both sensing and communication –
this is a challenge!

Possible power consumption of rendering for the same resolution as for human eyes is about 32KW. It is
possible to reduce it to 5W only. Find out how: understanding operational 5G: a first measuremnts stady

Pre-coding and pre-processing is a key here, because if you are able to encode brilliantly you need less
data to transfer, less time to transmit it, less probability for errors and less requirements for overall
latency. For reliable communication it requires to guarantee latency and part of that could be
guaranteed by the network slicing technology and other part which is responsible for coding/decoding
and computing latency could be guaranteed by MEC.

And this is what semantic communication is trying to do. They try to minimize the data when meaning of
the data is extracting from the data.
