Chapter I
Summary

This book is about a beautiful girl with an unlucky life she had. she was known as
Cinderella. After the death of her mother, her father decided to have another wife, to
get rid of his sorrowness. She now lives with her stepmother and with her 2
stepsisters.
The story started when Cinderella’s stepmother came out of her fake friendly
personality almost after the wedding. Seeing how charming Cinderella is makes her
feel uncomfortable and her two daughters look a lot horrible than they already are,
she decided to give her a degrading job that made her a less important person at home
more like a maid there. Wash the dishes, clean the stairs, sweep the rooms of her
stepmother and sisters. Sad Cinderella was also ordered to sleep in a garret with a
wretched straw mattress, while her stepsisters were in a room furnished with every
luxury. Cinderella could only bear her situation with patience and did not complain it
to her father. After finishing all her work, she used to sit in the chimney corner. Even
though Cinderella is in shabby clothes, she was ten times prettier than her sisters.
One day, the King’s son sent invitations to a grand ball, which will last for two
nights, and everyone was invited to come. The news made the two-stepsister
screamed out of their lungs, and their mind was occupied in choosing dresses and
looks. While Cinderella had now more work to do than ever, as it was her business to
iron their linen, and starch their ruffles. The two stepsisters talked all times just about
their preparations for the ball.

At last, the most long waited for evening arrived, the two stepsisters stepped into the
carriage with confident, and went to the palace. Poor Cinderella just standing there
waiting until the coach vanished as far as she could see. Returning to the kitchen with
tears and continued sobbing in the chimney corner. Suddenly a knock on the door
made her curious. There was an old woman who asked for some food, Cinderella
offered the old woman to come in and warm herself by the fire as she does not have
enough food but a dry crust. The old woman started asking why she was crying and
so Cinderella shared what she felt and then the old woman transformed into a
beautiful fairy godmother. The godmother told Cinderella that she will go to the ball
but first she needs to grab her some pumpkins, mice, large rats, and lizards. The fairy
godmother uses her wand to transform all of it to a stunning carriage, 6 tall footmen,
6 horses and a coachman. With the last touch fairy godmother turns Cinderella’s
shabby clothes to a magnificent ball dress, and a gorgeous pair of elastic glass

slippers. Before she made her leave, godmother reminded her that when the clock had
struck twelve, she will be back to her resume appearance as well as the carriage,
footmen, and coachman.

Arrived at the palace, everyone was struck with the extreme beauty of the unknown
princess. The prince immediately offered her a dance, and they did it with such grace.
The two stepsisters had no idea that she was Cinderella, as what the prince had given
her, all of which surprised them greatly. It was almost midnight, as Cinderella made
her quick leave. At home, the two stepsisters cannot stop talking about that unknown
princess that made Cinderella holds all her joy. The second day of the grand ball
begins as Cinderella came with a much more magnificent ball dress than ever, made
the prince saying all the most agreeable things, that made Cinderella does not notice
how the time flew that she quite forgot her godmother’s reminder. Cinderella was
shook by the first stroke of mid-night. She stands and quickly ran out, as the prince
was following her, one of Cinderella’s little glass slippers fell.

For a few days, the prince announced that he would marry the lady whose foot would
exactly fit the glass slippers. The slipper was tried by all princesses and duchesses but
just left them in vain. It comes to the stepsisters to try, but still it does not fit, when
Cinderella offered herself to try on, the two stepsisters laugh. The slippers fit
perfectly on her, everyone was amused by it, the two stepsisters beg in forgiveness
after all the conditions she was given, Cinderella embrace and forgave them.
At the end, Cinderella married the prince and look much more astonishing as ever on
her wedding dress.

Conclusion and Suggestions

3.1. Conclusion
In conclusion, this story book is decent to be in kids story book and it’s quite
motivating too. It makes you feel like you’re in a fairytale. A classic Love story with
a little life twist in it makes it even better. A nice bedtime story for kids too.

3.2. Suggestion
The storybook itself is easy to understand and it doesn’t have long dialogues, very
recommending it to young children. I believe that for the character “stepmother”
needs to add more scene of her as she is also the major character not just the
stepsisters.
