Single Skin Air Handling Unit FUW

Features
General Information
Packed in a high-intensity chassis with professional coils, efficient and low-noise fans and filters, the DAIKIN
FUW series air handling units best suit customer demand for horizontal and vertical air handling units. This
series saves customers indoor space but brings them more benefits. These products can be widely used for
the central air-conditioning systems in hotels, supermarkets, airports, hospitals, factories, research institutes,
enterprises and office buildings. They are tailored to installation in the case of limited space, no noise or
housing renovation, where no equipment room is available.

Structure
The high-strength galvanized steel sheets, cured with static spraying, are highly corrosion-proof. Made of a
new type of PU material, the heat insulator features ideal thermal insulation, sound absorption and no water
absorption. The insulator is also proof against cold bridge.

Heat Exchanger
Made on the OAK manufacturing facility we imported, the heat exchanger uses thin-walled copper tubes
mechanically expanded into new-type fins, to ensure close contact between the cooper tubes and fins. This
enables the coils to provide best heat exchange and the units to run reliably and efficiently. The coils are
available in various specifications and loop types, allowing users to derive the optimal operation model from
the different parameters to serve diversified needs.
Fan
With efficient tilted multi-blade centrifugal fans, this unit features large air flow, low noise and high reliability.
As the fan bearing requires no oiling, the unit saves customers maintenance costs.

Motor
V-belt driving, No less than IP54 class F ,provide different amounts of air fow and ETP to meet different needs.

Filter
The air inlet is equipped with a primary nylon filter. A panel filter can also be selected at request of customers.

Coil Selection Software

All the computing results and the products built on these results have passed strict test. This ensures their
safe, reliable and efficient operation.

Performance
The FUW product series features a high ETP and a large cooling capacity. Slim in size and simple in structure,
this series makes it easy for installation and maintenance.

Installation
Important Notice
Installation and maintenance are to be performed only by technicians who are familiar with local rules and
regulations, and experienced with this type of equipment.
Make sure that the rated voltage of the power supply conforms to the voltage stated on the unit nameplate.
Cut off all power supplies before mounting or maintaining the unit.
Electric connections must conform to local laws and regulations.
The voltage should fluctuate within the range of ± 10% of the rated voltage.
The unit must be well earthed to prevent insulation failures.
All the wires must be securely connected.
The design of water pipes and ducts must conform to the Specifications of Heating, Ventilation and Air
Conditioning (GBJ19-87).

FUW Mounting Location

Make sure it is convenient to connect wires and pipes in the selected mounting location. The minimum space.
reserved around FUW horizontal units is shown in Figure 3; FUW vertical units are shown in Figure 4

Suspending Installation
During the installation, please handle the unit or packing case with care, to avoid damage to any part. Before
leaving the factory, the unit or its packing case already has forklift handling holes or hoisting holes. During
the hoisting, the lifting poles should be strong enough to bear the unit weight. Please handle the FUW unit
as shown in Figure 5.

Figure 5

Storage
When a unit is placed outdoors before it is installed in an equipment room, please protect it from dirt, rain,
snow and even animals. Be sure not to damage the protective film on its surface.

Base Setup
Adjust the base levelness
The base, if not put on a level surface, may result in water leakage or break the dynamic balance of the fan
due to poor drainage of condensing water or cause the bearing to fail or vibrate.
The base height should match the U-shaped pipe blend. The drain pipe should be connected with the U-
shaped water seal, as shown in Figure 3.
Need suitable water seal when installing in order to condensation water drain smoothly.

Service and Maintenance

Notices
Responsibilities and Obligations
This product comes to you with the DAIKIN service warranty. Only DAIKIN technicians or experienced
technicians authorized by DAIKIN are allowed to install, test or maintain these products.

Using The Unit

After installing the piping system, please first wash the pipes. To do so, be sure to shut off the valve connected
to the unit, to prevent unwanted things in the pipes from entering the coils or blocking the loop.
After the installation, please check there is anything unwanted inside the fan. Turn the blades by hand. If no
unusual noise is heard, turn on the fan, to see if it is running properly.
Before turning on the water flow, please open the exhaust valve to let the air out of the pipe till water flows
out from the pipe.
When the unit stops running, fill the coil with water or otherwise keep the pipe from erosion.
When the environment temperature falls below 0°C in the winter, drain the pipe to prevent it from freezing.
Clean the coils at regular intervals, to remove the dust from the coils. Clean the scale inside the coils every
2 or 3 years. If possible, use soft water to supply hot/cold water to the coils.
Check the unit filter for dust regularly; if possible, please use a pressure difference detector. Once the
resistance reaches the limit, wash or replace the filter media in time.
After the unit runs for a week, please readjust the V-belt. Afterwards, check the belt every three months.

Servicing And Maintenance

A sound maintenance schedule helps reduce operational failures.
A dirty filter may worsen the performance and air flow of the unit. Thus, replace or wash the filter in time. Be
sure to check the filter every month to see if it is clean enough.
Wash the coils with compressed air or water. Brush the coil surface gently with a soft brush or use a vacuum
cleaner to clean the dust.
Do the following on a regular basis:
- Clean up the fans every 6 months, to keep them in good balance..
- Check and clean the water coils. Check the drain pipe in case dust or unwanted things block the pipes.
- Check if the bearing comes loose. If so, fix the fastening screw tightly to the bearing.
- Clean the dirt in the coils at regular intervals.
- Check that the side front of the fan V-belt is flush with the side front of the motor V-belt, to make sure the
pulleys are placed on a flat plane. Usually, check using the four-point method (see Figure 7).
- Use V-belts of the same brand and model. Never mix old V-belts with new ones. Make sure that the V-
belts match the pulley grooves.
- Use a tensiometer to check the V-belts, and tighten them properly (see Figure 8).
