The research paper discusses recent developments in the usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
techniques in TV and Broadcasting. It integrates broadcast and Broadband focusing on AI
applications and further envisages the next evolution of digital TV systems in Brazil, called
TV 3.0.
This paper proposes the capabilities of edge AI that are built into TV receivers and devices
themselves. Edge AI permits real-time processing of data, media, and inputs locally on the
device, rather than offloading analysis to the cloud.

AI and machine learning are set to revolutionize almost every aspect of the broadcasting
industry – from production to programming and distribution. AI is still in its infancy, but it
promises more effective processes, deeper viewer understanding, and more value from
archives.
In terms of production, AI can perform metadata tagging, compliance checks, subtitling, and
basic editing leaving humans to focus on more creative tasks. Moreover, AI allows for data-
driven graphics that could be used in different shows or for different audience segments.
Regarding monetization AI tools can track sponsor brand exposures within shows or target
ads to the most relevant viewers. Also Networks or OTT platforms would make their archives
more shoppable with the help of AI analysis done by rights holders.
In the future AI may enable Smart TVs that only show content that matches a person's mood
and interests at that particular time. In addition natural voice interfaces will provide smoother
navigation and content requests.
The use of AI has been hampered thus far by data silos and outdated systems, but new
integrated platforms are assisting in removing these obstacles. Algorithm biases, ethics, and
accuracy issues are still present. Transparency standards will be crucial.
In conclusion, AI/ML will probably change everything in the coming years, from the
production of material to the experiences of viewers. It will also save expenses, speed up
workflows, and enable more individualised, interesting broadcasting in general.

Accelerated Computing. https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/broadcast-trends/
As online streaming viewership skyrockets broadcasters are turning to ai and data analytics
to deliver more immersive and personalized sports coverage the 2024 paris olympics will
accelerate adoption of these digital technologies across production distribution and
consumption ai promises more automated and efficient content tagging search and
recommendations allowing fans to easily find video highlights of their favorite athletes
motion tracking graphics applied to events like marathons and cycling will enhance
understanding of athletes positions and performance augmented reality can also overlay
contextual data onto live footage to illustrate course challenges to showcase the strain faced
by tour de france cyclists broadcasters this year used a 3 d graphic with elevation gradients as
one executive notes they want to be on the field of play trying to bring the enormity of what
the athletes are actually up against into our studio is the biggest challenge we face behind the
scenes cloud computing scalably processes performance biometrics like archers heart rates
for broadcast graphics and 5 g networks promise real time access to sensor data analytics
from the field fully automated production while not yet robust enough for mainstream
coverage can remotely operate cameras and editing for secondary broadcasts at lower cost at
events like world cup soccer ai also aids officials in making faster calls on close plays like
offsides it s a balanced approach where technology assists but does not entirely replace
human judgment and oversight machine learning similarly helps coaches analyze player
movements in training for continuous improvement as with any automation ai does raise
concerns on displacement of production jobs but new roles could be created like an ai
production technician to correctly install and calibrate the systems beyond real time coverage
ai unlocks richer storytelling around archived narrative footage too in summary while ai
sports production won t be perfected overnight broadcasters are aggressively piloting the
technology at global events the promise of more personalized data enabled viewing to bring
fans closer to the action is too appealing to pass up thoughtful implementation and retraining
will be key in this industry transformation.
