The first version of Paint was programmed by Dan McCabe .

The
Paint was introduced with Windows 1.0 in November 1985. This
version was developed as a competitor to Macintosh's MacPaint.
Windows 1.0 is known as Microsoft's first operating system with a
graphical user interface, and it was a very innovative step at the
time. Windows 1.0 offered features such as mouse support, multi-
window support, and the ability to run MS-DOS-based applications.
This version also included the first version of Paint, offering users
simple drawing and editing tools.
