1. Introduction (For CXDI System Software Version 3.1)

Pages 1 through 12 are for the users of the CXDI system software version 3.1.
See pages 13 through 24 if your CXDI system software is version 4.0 or 4.1.

1. Introduction

This software enables communication between the CXDI and the X-ray generator.
Thus, by setting the exposure parameters for the X-ray generator from the CXDI, the
procedure of exposure can be simplified.
However, it is essential to always confirm that the exposure parameters displayed on
the exposure screen and the exposure parameters displayed on the X-ray generator are
the same before performing the exposure.

This software is set to send either anatomical code or exposure parameters during the
installation of the software by the service personnel.
Refer to section 2.1 when sending anatomical code, or section 2.2 when sending
exposure parameters to the X-ray generator.

2. Settings

2.1 Setting Anatomical Code

When an exposure mode key is touched on the operation unit of the CXDI, the ana-
tomical code set in this section will be sent to the X-ray generator. (No other param-
eters will be sent.) Then, a program corresponding to the anatomical code will be
selected on the X-ray generator.
There is no need to set anatomical code when exposure parameters are going to be
sent to the X-ray generator.

NOTE: If you do not set any anatomical code for the exposure mode, it will be re-
garded as “0” having been set.

1 Enter the PARA EDIT screen

From the exposure screen, choose system > EDIT BODY PARTS > PARA EDIT.

2 Select an exposure mode

Parameter editing screen appears.

3 Touch the key next to “GEN Com. Module”

4 Enter the anatomical code

Enter the anatomical code to be sent to the X-ray generator in less than 256
characters using the displayed keyboard. If you want to set an identical anatomi-
cal code for multiple exposure mode keys, put a serial number after the ana-
tomical code with a hyphen between it and the code, as follows:

–2–
2. Settings (For CXDI Software Version 3.1)

Anatomical code - Serial number

For example, in order to set an anatomical code of “12” for three exposure
mode keys, enter it as follows:
12-01, 12-02, 12-03
It does not matter how many digits there are in the serial number as long as the
total number of digits in the anatomical code and the serial number comes to
256 or less.

5 Choose <OK> to save the current settings

Or choose CANCEL.
When <OK> is chosen, a confirmation message will appear. Choose <OK> to
confirm the change or choose CANCEL.

2.2 Setting Exposure Parameters

When an exposure mode key is touched on the operation unit of the CXDI, the expo-
sure parameters set in the CXDI will be sent to the X-ray generator.
Basically, there is no need to set exposure parameters when anatomical code is going
to be sent to the X-ray generator.*

* Some X-ray generators need the size of the patient to be entered when anatomical
code is used.

2.2.1 Displaying Exposure Parameters

NOTE: Exposure parameters must be set to be displayed on the exposure screen in

order to be able to confirm that the parameters of the CXDI and the X-ray
generator are the same before performing the exposure.

1 Enter the CUSTOMIZE screen

From the exposure screen, choose system > SETUP MENU > CUSTOMIZE.

3.1 Data Sent from the CXDI

When an exposure mode key is touched, an anatomical code or exposure parameters
will be sent to the X-ray generator. Then, exposure parameters will be set in the X-ray
generator.

3.2 Receiving Execution Information

After the exposure button of the X-ray generator is pressed, the CXDI will wait for the
execution information from the X-ray generator for as long as the time set in “POST-
COND. RECEIVE TIMEOUT-TIME (sec)” in “MODULE SETUP”.

When the CXDI receives the execution information

The received information will be the DICOM information.

4.1 Error Messages

If any of the following error messages appears, take the countermeasures depending
on the displayed message.
If error message other than indicated below appears, please contact a Canon represen-
tative or distributor, and let us know in detail about the message that is displayed.

Send error. X-ray generator is not ready for receiving. (RT1)

The X-ray generator is sending a negative acknowledgment for the request to send.
Wait until the X-ray generator becomes ready to receive the request. If it does not
become ready, contact the manufacturer of the X-ray generator.

Send error. No response from X-ray generator. (RT1)

The X-ray generator does not respond to the request to send. Check that the cables are
connected properly and that the power of the X-ray generator is ON.
