Overview
● The ALX foundations course is a three month prerequisite to specialised tech programs.
● The course focuses on building key 21st century skills allowing learners to stand out against their peers.
● The course material will be delivered online via an LMS platform (Canvas) with required in-person activities at
least twice a week at a designated city hub.
● Each learner is required to complete approximately 35 hours of work every week.
● Learners will be required to complete weekly assignments (milestones) and weekly check tests designed to
develop and practice key skills needed in the workplace. Learners have the flexibility to decide how to
schedule their time in order to complete their assignments.
● A number of the assignments will include peer collaboration and learners must coordinate with their assigned
teams in order to meet either in person or virtually.

Peer Support
● Learners are put into squads which are close-knit groups of peers
going through the course.
● Members of each squad can freely communicate with each other
through our community platform, get accountability partners and
support each other with peer coaching sessions and throughout the
entire course.
● The ALX team provide support with onboarding onto all the platforms
and with milestone queries.

● All learning content and milestones mirror real work projects and enable
learners develop critical skills that are needed to excel. The
assignments/milestones provide learners with actual work samples that
they can include in their portfolio.

How to Advance to
Specializations
● Pass all milestones (with score of 75% or higher) and tests. There will be an opportunity to resubmit failed
milestones during the grace period.
● Complete all assigned peer reviews, it is important you review your peer’s assignment correctly following
the rubric given. There will also be some allowance for missed/late peer reviews.
● Visit a city hub at least twice a week.
● Complete any additional assessments/surveys required by The Room.
