3. Write a narrative paragraph about the history of human flight
Airplane is one of the greatest inventions of all time. The first story of human flight was in The Greek
Legend time, Daedalus was an engineer who was imprisoned with his son, Icarus. He made wings of
wax and feathers. Daedalus flew successfully but Icarus, tired to fly too high and flew too near to the
sun. The wings of wax melted and Icarus fell into the ocean and died. Many people believed that the
story was a lie and they thought human flight was impossible. One of the most unsuccessful flights
was done by Otto Lilienthal, he tried 2500 flights with his invented wings but none of them was
successful. One day, Lilienthal lost control because of a sudden strong wind and crashed
into the ground. This accident showed people that human flight was a dream. However, in
1903, the first successful flight was done by Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright which made
the dream of human’s flight come true. The first flight was controlled by Orville Wright and
only lasted for 12 seconds. However, it proved that human can fly and inspired other
inventors to invent their own aircraft. After the Wright brothers invented the first aircraft, they
started their business using airplanes as a transportation. Nowaday, people should be
thankful to the Wright brothers to invent a tool for carrying goods or travelling in a very short
time.
