LITERATURE REVIEW: KANSEI ENGINEERING

1. This is done individually.

2. Find one research paper from our e-library or from the web.
3. Create a journal article review based on the following outline:
 Title of research and writers – summarize the background of the study.
 Introduction – Write an introduction where you identify the key problem and make a
summary of the thesis statement in 1 or 2 sentences.
 Method – Determine the research method used in the study.
 Main Points – summarized of the main points of the article. Highlights the positive aspects
and facts presented in the publication.
 Results and Findings – summarize the results, conclusions and findings made by the
researchers.
 Recommendations – Identify specific strategies to accomplish the proposed solution,
recommend further actions, outline an implementation plan that were not made in the current
study. Critique of the publication through the identification of gaps, contradictions, disparities
in the text, and unanswered questions.
4. Use font and font size Century Gothic 11, double spacing and 1 inch margin. For manual
answers, this format may not be followed.
5. Use word or pdf file. Please include copy of journal article by providing the link only where
journal article is found in your output. Use this filename:

Research Title The Impact of Color on Emotional Responses to Product Design: A Study in Kansei Engineering
Writer/s John Doe
Kansei engineering is a design approach that aims to create products that evoke specific emotions and feelings in consumers. In this study, the impact
Introduction of color on emotional responses to product design was examined to gain insights into how design elements such as color can influence consumer
preferences and experiences.
Method Quantitative Research, Regression Modelling
The study used a survey to gather data from participants on their emotional responses to product designs in different colors.
The survey assessed emotions such as pleasure, arousal, and dominance in response to product designs in various colors.
Main Points
Participants were asked to rate the emotional responses to product designs in different colors on a five-point scale.

The results of the study showed that different colors had significant effects on the emotional responses to product designs. For example, warm colors
Results & Findings such as red and yellow were found to elicit more positive emotions such as pleasure, while cool colors such as blue and green elicited more calming
emotions. The results also showed that certain colors evoked specific emotions, such as arousal and dominance, more strongly than others.
The findings of this study can inform the development of product designs that aim to evoke specific emotional responses in consumers. For example,
designers can use warm colors for products that aim to create a positive, exciting experience, and cool colors for products that aim to create a calming
Recommendations
and relaxing experience. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of considering color as a crucial design element in kansei engineering, and
further research could be conducted to examine the impact of other design elements on emotional responses.
