1. Activity

A video clip will be shown to the students showing the different hand tools used by a technician

when repairing or troubleshooting a computer.

1. Anti-static wrist strap - used
to prevent ESD damage to
computer equipment.

Classification of Hardware Tools

 Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) tools

Anti-static wrist strap - used to prevent ESD damage to

slotted screws

2. Philips head screwdriver - used to loosen or tighten

2. Compressed air - used to blow away dust and debris.

3. Cable ties - used to bundle cables neatly inside and

outside of a computer.

 Diagnostic tools

1. Multimeter - used to test the integrity of circuits and the

quality of electricity in computer components.

 Safe use of Tools

1. Select the best tool for each task and follow the manufacturer instructions

2. Use the tool for the purpose for which it was designed

4. Generalization

1. How does understanding the intricacies of computer hardware tools influence a person's ability

5. Application

The students are divided into 4 groups and is given different tasks about the lesson

Group 1 – Role playing of a computer technician repairing a computer using proper tools

Group 2 – Role playing showing how using proper hardware tools can be used in other areas of

life

Group 3 – Make a presentation showing the importance of knowing the different classification of

hand tools

Group 4 – Draw the workplace of a computer technician with the tools present on it
