AUDITION MONOLOGUES

NOTE: Students are to select ONE of the following monologues to present at

their audition. It is preferable if students learn the lines prior to their
audition and make an attempt to interpret their selected character.

Queen Iduna: All right my loves. Time for bed. And that means actually sleeping okay? No magic. Goodnight
children. (exits the room and then re-enters suddenly). I heard a scream Elsa. What’s wrong with
Anna? Oh Elsa…what have you done. Her skin is as cold as ice. We need the Hidden Folk of the
mountains. They have healing powers!

Young Anna: They’re gone! It’s just us! Snowman, Snowman, Snowman!!! I can’t sleep Elsa. The sky’s awake, so
I’m awake, so we have to play! Please Elsa. Why won’t you play with me? I’m your little sister! If you
were a nice big sister you would play with me. Let’s build a snowman Elsa.

Pabbie: The queen knows our call. You must be a child of the Northern Nomads! What’s so urgent? Why did
you call us? Your daughter is hurt? Was it an accident? Was she born with these powers or cursed?
You’re lucky she did not strike her sister’s heart. A heart is not so easily changed, but a head may be
persuaded.

King Agnarr: We cannot remove your magic Elsa. Your powers are part of you. Don’t be afraid of them. If you fear
your powers they will cause dangerous ice and snow, beyond your control. We’ll close the gates.
Limit your contact with people and keep your powers hidden from everyone, including Anna. This is
how it has to be. It’s best for Anna.

Elsa: Hi Anna. You look so grown up and beautiful. It’s been so many years. I’d forgotten what a party felt
like. What’s that amazing smell? Chocolate! This is nice Anna…Us talking. Maybe we could do it more
often? I’d really like that. No Anna, we can’t keep the gates open? You don’t understand. Can you
excuse me for a minute?

Hans: Hello again. You look upset. Are you okay? What do you mean she left you? I’m so sorry. Why would
she do that? I spent a lot of time alone as a kid too. I had twelve older brothers. But if they weren’t
humiliating me, they were ignoring me. It’s not going to be like that when I have a family.

Kristoff: Sven, come on, it’s not your fault that we’re caught in a surprise, magical, summer blizzard. Hey,
aren’t you the Princess of Arendelle? My name’s Kristoff, and I’m an ice harvester. I mean, a recently
unemployed ice harvester. What are you doing out here? You’re looking for your sister? The one
that went all ice-crazy and ruined my business?

Olaf: I’m Olaf, and I like warm hugs. You must be Anna. I remember you. Don’t you remember me? You
need Elsa to bring back summer? Oh, I don’t know why but I’ve always loved the idea of summer,
and sun, and all things hot. Sometimes I like to close my eyes and imagine what it’d be like when
summer does come!

Weselton: C’mon, keep moving. The temperature is dropping! The Queen has cursed this land! We’ll be lucky to
survive the night. The queen is a monster! She’s the one that has caused this eternal winter. And I
bet Princess Anna is in on it too. We must destroy them both before it’s too late.
