ABRASIVE WHEELS
INTRODUCTION
Misuse of abrasive wheels continue to result in accidents, often because the wrong type of wheel or
damaged wheel is fitted

WHY?
 Avoid injury: Injuries to a person from busting abrasive wheels are usually quite severe and
disfiguring. This trauma not only affects the injured person but also work colleagues. This can have
a de-motivating effect on them and as a result project delays may arise.
 Avoid prosecution: The safe use of abrasive wheels has specific legislation associated with it.
Fines can be imposed by the Municipality cases of breaching legislation.
 Avoid losses: Already mentioned above is the loss of earnings to the injured person, but losses
do not stop there, projects can become delayed. There are also associated costs to such incidents
including insurance premium increases.
