Parables and cell phones confiscated in Dominican

prison La Victoria

Santo Domingo, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) In an event that some describe as unusual, Dominican
prison authorities announced today the confiscation of 12 satellite internet antennas and cell
phones in the La Victoria prison, in Santo Domingo Norte.

Who did it, how, and when? These are some of the questions that have not yet been
answered, but the truth is that the prisoners of the La Victoria Detention Center were
seized with 12 Starlink parabolas and six signal repeaters, with which they
committed scams and other virtual crimes.

This was confirmed by the General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional

Services (DGSPC), which specified that the devices were detected during a tour of
the roof of the compound, where they found internet parables of a foreign
commercial company selling online in the courtyard of the area of corridors A and F.

He said that they were hidden in the lids of the tinacos (water tanks) and in boxes
covered with fabric.

He pointed out that members of the National Police participated in the operation
along with the intelligence team of the DGSPC.

Regarding the seizure of this equipment, the President of the Republic, Luis
Abinader, spoke about the need to do more to maintain security in the country's
prisons.

He acknowledged that more resources are required to organize the penitentiary

system and said that the Las Parras or La Nueva Victoria prison, which has been
abandoned for six years, is in the process of being readapted.
