as sheets and coils, respectively) used for the automobiles manufactured in Nissan block.

2. STEEL SHEET SPECIFICATIONS AND SYMBOL SYSTEM

Specifications of cold rolled steel sheet shall have two standard types, the RP standard (severe

under the specifications of SP132-370 and SP151-1350H. Therefore, they shall not be newly adopted. For
SP151-1350H, 22MnB5 was specified as an alternative standard in RNES-B-00010 (NES M2201).

Bake hardenability on yield strength: 30 MPa or more (SP135-340)
* Refer to Fig. 1 in 3. 4-1.
Bake hardenability value shows an increased value of yield point as a result of testing that is conducted

Remarks 1. In measurement of the tensile strength, “6. Test” in the Appendix (Test method of baking
paint hardening amount) of JISG 3135 is changed to perform the test as follows.
“6.3 Strain aging tensile test”: Perform the tensile test on a test piece that has been
heat-treated after pre-strain and obtain the maximum
load (Ftsa) excluding the upper yield point. (Do not read
the upper yield point.)
“6.4 BH amount” : Obtain the BH amount from the equation below.
σBH = (Ftsa – Fts0)/A0
Ftsa: The load at the upper yield point after 170°C × 20 mins. baking during pre-distortion aging.
Fts0: The load at the upper yield point of the material that is not pre-distortioned and
heat-treated, or at yield strength.
A0: Original cross section of test piece before pre-strain (mm2)
Test pieces that require measurement of Ftsa and Fts0 shall be cut from the same 300 mm × 300 mm
steel sheet.

Remarks: 1. These tolerances shall be, as a rule, applicable to cold rolled steel sheets whose width is 500 mm min.
2. A special tolerance may be specified by agreement between the parties concerned with shipping and
receiving, for such steel sheets as shims, and for cold rolled steel sheets with width less than 500 mm.
3. These tolerances shall not be applied to abnormal areas of a coil.
4. Regarding the steel types with Q or E, the target thickness shall be -2% and -3% of the nominal
thickness for the steel types with Q and E respectively. The thickness tolerance shall be controlled in
accordance with the following.
Q (More strictly controlled target thickness by 2%): The tolerance in the thickest direction shall be
the absolute value of the tolerance shown in above
Table 11-2 + the nominal thickness x 0.02.
The tolerance in the thinnest direction shall be the
absolute value of the tolerance shown in above Table
11-2 - the nominal thickness x 0.02.
E (More strictly controlled target thickness by 3%): The tolerance in the thickest direction shall be
the absolute value of the tolerance shown in above
Table 11-2 + the nominal thickness x 0.03.
The tolerance in the thinnest direction shall be the
absolute value of the tolerance shown in above Table
11-2 - the nominal thickness x 0.03.
Therefore, the total of the thickness tolerance for the steel types with Q and E shall not be any different
from the total of the thickness tolerance for the steel types without Q and E.
When the application of the steel type with E is to be studied, confirm with the Purchasing Department
whether or not it is possible to adopt such a steel type in advance.
5. The applicable thickness is as shown in Table 1.
6. The applicable thickness tolerance shall be 25 mm or more from the side edge toward the inside.

10.3 Standard dimension of width

The standard width shall be in accordance with Table 12.
Table 12 Standard dimension of width (Unit: mm)

Remarks: 1. When the sheet width is parenthesized and steel sheets with widths 1,830 mm max. are used,
consultation shall be made with the Materials Department.
2. Special dimension may be requested if it is specially necessary.

11. SHAPE
11.1 Flatness
The maximum value for flatness shall be in accordance with Table 15 (Flatness specified in JIS G 3141).
However, when it is necessary to control warp for RP154-980 and RP154-1180, it is allowed to request
to satisfy the value on Table 16. In principle, this value is only applicable to parts that particularly require
warp control at the time of manufacturing.

Remarks: 1. The flatness is represented by the value obtained through deducting the nominal thickness of the steel
sheet placed on the surface plate from the measured value of the maximum distortion. It shall apply to the
upper surface of the steel sheet. (Fig. 1)
2. When especially required, it is also possible to request a specific flatness through consultation between
the parties concerned.
3. For the coil, it shall be the reference standard. Flatness shall be specified through agreement between the
parties concerned when it is harmful for practical use.
4. For Grades 1, 2 and 3, the standard lower limit for the tensile strength shall apply to steel plates of less
than 780 MPa, 780 MPa and 1180 MPa respectively.

wrap
Remarks: 1. The sheet measured shall have the same width as the width of the coil, a length of 500 mm, and shall be
cut from the bottom of the coil (the outermost diameter of the coil). (Fig. 2)
2. Measure the flatness with the warp of the sheet facing upward on the surface plate. (Fig. 3)
3. Measure the height shown in Fig. 3 at each of the 6 points ((1) through (6)) at the end of the sheet and the
center position ((7)) of the sheet as shown in Fig. 2. The warp inspection value is obtained by subtracting
the nominal thickness (t) of the steel sheet from the maximum height.
4. Stricter wrap control is only applicable to RP154-980 and RP154-1180. Warp shall be 8.0 mm or less
regardless of the nominal width of coil.
5. This shall be handled as a referential standard for coils, and when wrap is determined to be detrimental
for practical use, a standard shall be determined by consultation between the parties concerned.

11.2 Lateral bending

Application of lateral bending is as shown in Fig. 4. The maximum values of lateral bending for steel
sheets and steel strips shall be in accordance with Table 17 (Maximum value of lateral bending specified
in JIS G 3135). The measurement procedures are shown in Fig. 4.

surface finish classification, lubrication classification, use classification, dimension classification,
thickness, width and length.
Therefore, the order of each symbol shall be as follows.
SP132-370 (or other steel type) A (or B) MKG (or D)

16. DRAWING SYMBOL

When steel sheet is indicated in a drawing, the steel type symbol (mechanical properties classification)
and the thickness shall be indicated in order. If the indication by the strength type symbol is sufficient, the
strength type symbol may be used in place of the steel type symbol. In addition, if the indication of
detailed steel sheet specification (surface finish classification, etc.) is required, the symbol that indicates
the specification may be written along with it.
<Example>
SP132-370 t0.75
SP153-590 t1.4
SP130-370 t0.8 (Specify with strength type symbol)

17. REPORT
If the manufacturing process of the steel sheet or any agreement between the parties concerned is
changed, such change shall be reported and approved before implementation.
If the change covers the entire Nissan group, the report shall be submitted to each responsible sections
of Material Department and Production Engineering Division and Material Engineering Department of
Nissan Headquarters. If the change only affects applicable plant(s), the report shall be submitted to
Engineering Department and Inspection Department of the plant(s).

18. OTHERS
The type of shipment, weight, inner and outer diameters of the coil shall be determined by agreement
between the parties concerned at each plant.
