TLE: What I Have Learned

1. Farm tools, implements, and equipment play very important role in horticultural operations. Their
availability makes the work much easier and faster. However, even if one may have the most
sophisticated tools and implements, but does not know how to use them, they are useless. In order to
do horticultural operations successfully, one must have a good working knowledge of the tools,
implements and equipment before using them.

2. A crop in the field may be lost because of harvest delays. Crop losses can lead to increased costs to
purchase replacement feeds or protein supplements. Therefore, tractor and equipment pre-operation
checks are an economic necessity.

3. Step 1: identify hazards and those at risk.

Step 2: evaluating and prioristing risk.

Step 3: Deciding on preventive action.

Step 4: taking action.

Step 5: monitoring and reviewing.
