Most times you learn new strategies but can't backtest
them on historical data because you lack access to a premium (paid) @tradingview account or other similar apps. Here's a detailed thread on a charting app where you can use the bar replay tool for free and how to use it.
GO CHARTING @gocharting is a free backtesting and
trading application with similar features as @tradingview. If you're used to @tradingview before now, it won't be too difficult to understand its interface but let's check it out together. This is what the homepage of GO CHARTING looks like. I have four arrows pointing down to four important features. The black arrow pointing to CHART-: where you can change your candlestick type. It varies from hollow candles, lines, heikin ashi, normal candles amongst others. The red arrow is pointed at DRAW-: where you can get all your drawing tools like the fibonacci, long position, short position, arrow, trend line, price range tools amongst others. The orange arrow is pointed at TRADE-: you'll see an option for either live or paper trading here.
In this image, we still have four arrows pointing at four
features. The blue arrow is pointed at a small LOVE ICON-: this is where you can find your favourite tools. The green arrow is pointed at TIMEFRAMES-: here, you can switch to any timeframe of choice from 1m to monthly. The yellow arrow is pointed at INDICATORS-: here, you can search indicators of choice although some indicators are limited to premium users. The purple arrow is pointed at the BAR REPLAY TOOL-: here, you can play back data and backtest for any pair of choice on your watchlist.
The features not included in this thread are self
understandable. Also, I noticed that live charts backtesting on @gocharting are limited to premium users. Free users can only backtest with the EOD charts updated everyday but it's still a win.
There are other good uses of the @gocharting like it's
orderflow references which are very visible even without configuring indicators amongst others, so feel free to explore them. If you still have questions, you can ask them in the comments. Don't forget to like and retweet this thread to help others. Follow @Starr_gael for more educative tweets and threads. God bless.
Just confirmed, live charts on Crypto and FX are free
on @gocharting, only traditional charts require premium membership.
