Site- 2:1 (Maxilla: Mandible)
Asymptomatic
Painless swelling
Unerupted tooth- 52%
2 types: Intra and Extra osseous

Radiographic Features

Diffuse, well circumscribed, unilocular radiolucency, radio-opacity with many small, irregular
trabeculae traversing the radiolucent areas . Scattered flecks of calcifications.

Histopathology

• Polyhedral epithelial cells closely packed in large sheets


• Small islands of tumor cells in a bland fibrous connective tissue
stroma
• Arrangement- Cords or rows- mimicking adenocarcinoma
• Granular eosinophilic cytoplasm, pleomorphic nuclei,
• Nuclei- flat, oval in centre
• Clear cells- Negative for mucicarmine
• Liesegang Calcifications – homogenous, eosinophilic
• Made of: amyloid, glycoprotein, basal lamina, keratin, enamel matrix
• Stains: Congo red, Flourses with Thioflavin T , PAS- Negative to
Positive (Coalesced)

Treatment and Prognosis

Enucleation and curettage – well defined lesions


Partial- hemi mandibulectomy / maxillectomy
Recurrence rate: 10-20%
