Safety for All

Every aspect of the Harrier has evolved—including Toyota Safety Sense™
(TSS), an advanced active safety system designed to support the driver in
awareness, decision-making, and overall operations—helping to mitigate
or prevent collisions, and keeping you and your passengers safe.

Drivers are responsible for their own safety, and must always drive safely, obey traffic speed limits and laws and focus on the
road while driving. Refer to the Owner’s Manual for your vehicle to read more information on TSS precautions and limitations.

Pre-collision System (PCS)

The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, and the new
Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) Intersection, can alert you to an oncoming
vehicle or a pedestrian/cyclist, including at intersections. By combining a
millimetre wave radar with a camera capable of shape recognition, the system will
warn you of possible collisions and, if necessary, apply the brakes automatically.
The new Emergency Steering Assist (ESA) also provides additional steering input
for more stability when emergency steering is active.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) makes cruising even

more effortless. Using forward-sensing radar technology
and an intelligent camera, it adjusts your speed according
to the distance of the vehicle directly ahead. In heavy traffic,
it slows when it shortens and accelerates back to your
original cruising speed when the road clears. It now also
includes Curve Speed Management, which determines if
your speed needs to be reduced when taking a curve—and
automatically decelerating to facilitate it.

Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)

When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)

is enabled and lane markers are visible,
Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) uses the lines on
the road and the vehicles ahead of you to
help keep the car centred and in its lane.

Adaptive High-Beam System

(AHS)

This smart sensor detects the

headlights and taillights of cars
in front of you, and automatically
optimises the headlamp light
distribution to ensure you never
dazzle other drivers, making driving
safer for you and your fellow
road users.

Lane Departure Alert (LDA)

The Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system

identifies visible lane markings and detects
an inadvertent lane departure. It will then
issue both an audible alert and a visual
warning, as well as activate the new
Steering Wheel Vibration to notify the driver.
If the system determines that the driver is not
taking corrective steering action, the Steering
Assist function is designed to initiate and
provide gentle corrective steering to help
your car stay in the lane.

Blind Spot Monitor with

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

The Harrier’s Blind Spot Monitor alerts you to the

presence of vehicles that may have entered the
blind spot on either side of the vehicle, helping to
make lane changes safer. While Rear Cross Traffic
alert warns you of approaching cross traffic while
backing up.

Parking Support Brake (PKSB)

The Harrier audibly warns you when front and

rear sensors detect stationary objects or vehicles
approaching from the rear. If the system determines
there may be contact, it will send an alert inside
the vehicle and reduce engine power or apply
the brakes.
