Module 1 Enabling Assessment: Jesus' Mission and the Kingdom of God

Please reflect:

1. Who is Jesus to you personally and why? (Make or draw a symbol that will

capture your own personal image of Christ and upload it here below:)
2. In what way you have experienced the presence of the Kingdom of God in

your life?

My greatest personal experience regarding the presence of the Kingdom of

God in your life is during this COVID-19 Pandemic. Honestly speaking, my family

faced with a lot of problems when the COVID-19 became pandemic. My father,

who is a seaman, became jobless for more than 1 year as well as he tested positive

for COVID-19. He battled with COVID-19 for almost 2 months in a quarantine

facility in Pampanga. In addition, there were also big uncertainties last year when

my father will get back into his job. And lastly, we left almost no money during the

peek of COVID-19 cases. We are very very lucky that some of my aunts and uncles

were helped us during the times that we left almost no budget even for food. That’s

how big our problems are because of this COVID-19 Pandemic. During that time,

me and my family only asked God to help us to find a way this greatest problems

in life. And miraculously, He answered all our prayers. God never let our financial

problems take us down since some of my aunts, uncles, and even my grandmother

and grandfather donated their money for us. Also, I have one aunt who donated

us Php5,000 monthly during the time my father became jobless and tested positive

for COVID-19 until he got back to his work for us to buy foods and other basic

needs. This money was also used to enrolled us in this school despite having

almost little to no budget for it. Another thing that I consider a miracle in my life is

when my father got back into work last June 2021 even though there were still big

uncertainties about COVID-19 restrictions. Honestly speaking, we are about to

lose hope if my father could get back into his work since there were big chance
way back then that my father could not be able to get back into his job because

the company where is he is working removed a lot of employees to save costs and

expenses since there were only very few customers during that time. And lastly,

God never let my father died because of COVID-19. Honestly speaking, my mother

cried loudly when my father said that he tested positive by this virus way back April

2020. During this time, the only thing our family can do to help my father in fighting

against COVID-19 is to pray. And in God’s perfect time, He answered all our

prayers. He managed to defeat the virus in almost 2 months only. He got back into

our home after he tested negative in the virus. That’s how God is great to us!! He

never let our struggles and difficulties take us down. In God’s perfect time, He will

always make a way to overcome all our problems in life. All we need to do is to put

our trust to God.

3. Make a research about the Twelve Apostles of Jesus and reflect: Among the

Twelve Apostles of Jesus, with whom do you think can you best identify

yourself with as His follower and why?

Among the Twelve Apostles of Jesus, I can best identify myself as God’s

follower through Saint Peter. According to Britannica (n.d.), he is revered as the

patron saint of Rome, popes, and numerous places that bear his name, including

Saint-Pierre and St. Petersburg. He is the patron saint of locksmiths because he

holds the "keys to heaven,". According to Matthew 16:19, “I will give you the keys

to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;

and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”. In addition, he is also
the patron saint of fishermen, shipbuilders, and netmakers because he was once

a fisherman. And lastly, he is considered as the fist pope of the Catholic Church.

The main reason I can identify myself with Saint Peter is that, as a Lasallian,

God had entrusted me the keys to continue what Saint John Baptist De La Salle

had done to us. As a Lasallian, my duties and responsibilities are to serve my

community and to preach the Gospel to all my neighborhood. In addition, I am

obliged to share all my knowledge and skills to those who are in need, especially

the poor and marginalized sectors of the community. And lastly, I must integrate

the 3 Lasallian Core Values as well as the Gospel teachings while fulfilling all my

missions in life.

4. As Christ’s Apostles in the modern world, how are you going to make His

life and mission visible in your family, school, and community?

As Christ’s Apostles in the modern world, I am going to make His life and

mission visible in your family, school, and community by helping other people in

fulfilling their dreams in life. I promised that as a Lasallian, I will continue the

mission that the school has entrusted to me. I will serve as a role model to my

fellow Lasallians as well as to my community to do good and to serve others just

like what St. La Salle did when he was still alive. In addition, I will also continue to

live out the 3 Lasallian core values, which is faith, service and communion, while

doing my mission in life. Moreover, I promise that I will help those in need,

especially the poor and marginalized sectors of our society. And lastly, I will
continue to inspire others to join the Lasallian mission and help as well those

people who are in need.
