Learning Episode 7– Making Online or Virtual Learning Environment Safe and

Conducive

Notice

Unlike the traditional face-to-face classroom environment, online or virtual

environment is a bit difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment
(VLE) is imaginary and not in the physical sense. It has no corners or walls and it can
be set up with the support of technology.

As a teacher what have you discovered to be easy to implement in your virtual

class

 As a teacher I have discovered discussion forums and emails just like

google classrooms are easy to implement and facilitate ongoing
interactions among students.

How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?

 Students demonstrate active participation in the virtual lesson through

engaging in online discussions, using interactive features, contributing to
collaborative projects, submitting assignments, asking questions, utilizing
learning platforms, interacting with peers, using digital communication
channels, and being visibly present in virtual meetings.

Analyze

Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line learning

environment? Check one or more.

 It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.

 It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.

 As a future teacher, I feel that the online learning environment can be safe
if strong measures are in place to ensure the privacy and security of
students, fostering a positive and respectful online culture. I also believe
that teaching in a virtual learning environment is dynamic and offers
opportunities for personalized instruction, flexibility, and the integration of
diverse digital resources, but it requires intentional efforts to maintain
student engagement and create a sense of connection.

OBSERVE

Identify the problems brought about by the on-line learning environment?

 Some students have no internet signals and some are do not have
gadgets to engage with this kind of learning environment.

REFLECT

How would I solve the problem?

 To address the challenge of students lacking internet signals or access to

gadgets, as a teacher, I would provide offline resources like printed
materials, collaborate with community resources, explore low-bandwidth
solutions, offer asynchronous learning options, encourage peer
collaboration, communicate with parents, advocate for improved internet
access, provide alternative assignments, seek funding for technology
access, and promote digital literacy.

PLAN

What initial plan do you intend to do to solve the problem?

EPISODE 7: Making Online Virtual Learning Environment Safe and Conducive

 To address the challenge of students lacking internet signals or access to
gadgets, my initial plan as a teacher would involve conducting a
technology survey, providing offline resources, exploring community
partnerships for access to technology, and communicating with parents to
better understand the specific challenges students are facing.
